Twitter<\/a> users pounced on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday after she publicly thanked George Floyd \u201cfor sacrificing your life for justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice. For being there to call out to your mom \u2014 how heartbreaking was that \u2014 call out for your mom, \u2018I can\u2019t breathe,\u2019\u201d Pelosi (D-Calif.) said during a news<\/a> conference with members of the Congressional Black Caucus.<\/p>\n

University of Illinois history\u00a0professor and longtime black activist Barbara Ransby reacted with utter shock.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid Pelosi just say \u2018George Floyd, thank u 4 sacrificing your life for justice\u2019?\u201d she tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did not SACRIFICE his life. His life was violently taken.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others were equally app<\/a>alled.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice. For being there to call out to your mom \u2014 how heartbreaking was that \u2014 call out for your mom, \u2018I can\u2019t breathe,’\u201d Pelosi said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for sacrificing your life? Better to say, I\u2019m sorry you had to sacrifice your life for justice. Sheesh,\u201d tweeted @KimK5765<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another user, @Chris_Lee_Cal, tweeted<\/a>, \u201cPretty sure he didn\u2019t sign up to be murdered by a cop.\u201d<\/p>\n

A user with the handle @marginoferror tweeted<\/a>: \u201cNO! NO, NO, NO. What the f\u2013k, Pelosi!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Sacrificing your life\u2019 is something people have to do on their own. Floyd was murdered. We just had a whole-ass trial!\u201d @marginoferror added.<\/p>\n

User @pwebbbbb tweeted<\/a>: \u201cMy God the ignorance of Pelosi. This is really a good indication of why we need term limits because her old ass is out of her damn mind. \u2018Sacrificing himself\u2019\u2026 like he had a choice..\u201d<\/p>\n

Media and political consultant Timothy Burke, a former writer for the Daily Beast and Deadspin, called the California Democrat\u2019s remark outside the US Capitol \u201cabsolutely bizarre.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of Burke\u2019s 94,000 followers replied with similar reactions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do they keep putting her out in public?\u201d tweeted @CasualMandalor1<\/a>, while @Schneideur<\/a> called Pelosi an \u201cabsolute ghoul.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo far out of touch she doesn\u2019t even qualify for the Hall and Oates song anymore,\u201d added @Mister_Argent<\/a>.\n <\/div>\n
