“#NYPD detective sues man over racist harassment<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

An Asian NYPD detective is suing a man who was allegedly captured on camera spewing racist slurs at the 16-year veteran.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday, says Terrell Harper harassed him repeatedly during a demonstration on March 11, calling the cop a \u201cgoddamn cat eater\u201d and asking if \u201che can see right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou going to Judo chop me? I don\u2019t give a f\u2013k, you are being recorded, too,\u201d according to a disturbing video released by the Detectives Endowment Association, which filed the suit on behalf of Detective Vincent Cheung.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I care about is the apology,\u201d said Cheung, who is assigned to the Fifth Precinct. \u201cNo matter how much is awarded, I\u2019m donating it to some Asian aid society or anti-Asian hate society.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawsuit is believed to be first of its kind, according to DEA attorney James Moschella.<\/p>\n

Union head Paul DiGiacomo said, \u201cThis city is in a crisis of violence and in a crisis of hate. No citizen should be subject to hateful racist slurs whether they are wearing a uniform or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

The suit looks to force Harper to explain why he targeted the detective with the hate speech. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt certainly has caused emotional trauma to the Detective and it clearly fits inside the current law,\u201d Moschella said. <\/p>\n

Harper has not been charged with a crime for the incident.<\/p>\n
