It\u2019s a grass-roots movement. <\/p>\n

In honor of unofficial pot holiday April 20 (4\/20), an organization repping country musician and marijuana enthusiast Willie Nelson is imploring President Joe Biden to declare the time a national week of cannabis celebration. An online petition<\/a> to legitimize the \u201cHigh Holidays\u201d currently boasts 4,000 signatures. <\/p>\n

The document, penned by the iconic singer\u2019s Texas-based concert team Luck Reunion, reads: \u201cThe fine people of Luck, Texas, and supporters of the great Willie Nelson, on behalf of cannabis users around the nation, are writing today to ask you to consider declaring the 9 days spanning April 20 to April 29 an official national holiday: the \u2018High Holidays.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n

They decided on the April 29 end date so the holidaze would dovetail with the multi-time Grammy winner\u2019s birthday. <\/p>\n

The uproarious plea concludes by asking Biden to \u201cplease puff, puff, and pass this to your friends in Congress for consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nelson\u2019s love of the ganj has <\/em>indeed brought him to the White House before: Former President Jimmy Carter confirmed that his son took Nelson on the roof of the presidential abode to smoke a \u201cbig fat Austin torpedo.\u201d <\/p>\n

His penchant for pot has also inspired the Toby Keith song,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again.\u201d<\/a> However in 2019, he announced he was taking a break<\/a> from smoking the stuff to preserve his lungs. He later clarified<\/a> that he would still partake in edibles and \u201cvaping.\u201d <\/p>\n

A national weed week may sound sophomoric. However Nelson and Co. hope that the high holidays will shed light on the \u201cmany benefits of cannabis while helping to remove the unjustified stigmas currently surrounding this amazing plant,\u201d per the pot-tetion. <\/p>\n

The \u201cDukes Of Hazzard\u201d star is not the first to ask for a presidential favor on 4\/20. Earlier today, jailed grass dealers begged Biden honor his campaign promise to release \u201ceveryone\u201d in prison for marijuana.<\/p><\/div>\n
