The disgruntled Long Island Stop & Shop grocery cart worker who allegedly shot three other employees \u2014 one fatally \u2014 inside store offices was ordered held without bail during his Wednesday arraignment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gabriel deWitt Wilson, 31, did not speak during the brief app<\/a>earance, held via video conference, only to confirm that he consented to having the arraignment proceed remotely.<\/p>\n

Attorney Brian Carmody said Wilson entered a not guilty plea and demanded a trial by jury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wilson first showed up at the West Hempstead Stop & Shop just after 10 a.m. Tuesday and went up to the second floor, Assistant District Attorney Jared Rosenblatt said during the proceeding. He spoke with multiple \u201cmembers\u201d of the store before leaving, the prosecutor said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cApproximately 40 minutes later, he returned, went back to the second floor with a loaded firearm and fired that gun, killing one man, hitting two others,\u201d he said. \u201cHe fired at least five shots.\u201d<\/p>\n

A female employee told The Post on Tuesday that Wilson \u201cused to push the shopping carts\u201d at the store, and was fired either Monday or Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wilson \u2014 who was wearing a black mask, black sweatshirt and black baseball cap during the carnage \u2014 fled the busy grocery store on foot after the shooting and was spotted heading toward Hempstead Turnpike, police said.<\/p>\n

As cops urged the public to stay inside and area schools went into lockdown, Nassau police scoured buses for the suspect and began checking possible hideout addresses phoned in to 911.<\/p>\n

Wilson evaded cops for about four hours before being caught as he tried to flee a building on Terrace Avenue in Hempstead, about two miles from the store, authorities said.<\/p>\n

A SWAT team surrounded that address and caught Wilson as he was trying \u201cto flee down through the first floor,\u201d Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe defendant stated, while being read Miranda, \u2018I\u2019m no spring chicken,\u2019 and your honor, that\u2019s true,\u201d Rosenblatt told Judge Chris J. Coschignano, of Nassau County\u2019s Fourth District, during the arraignment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wilson has a history of arrests in Maryland dating back to 2006, Rosenblatt said, citing two busts in 2014 and 2016 for firearm possession.<\/p>\n

Coschignano ordered Wilson remanded, and scheduled another appearance for Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ryder said Wilson was treated \u201conce for a mental illness in Nassau County.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

A neighbor at a former address for Wilson in Long Beach, LI, told The Post that the suspect has a young daughter and was a football star in his youth \u2014 but his behavior dramatically changed after getting shot in the head years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not thinking the right way anymore. He got shot in the head, so that kind of rearranges your brain chemicals,\u2019\u2019 said the resident, Kimberly Castro, 22. \u201cI really don\u2019t know what he was thinking about when he did this.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
