To make matters worse, she\u2019s unable to get out of the pod \u2013 and her oxygen is running out by the second. Can she remember who she is and find a way out before it\u2019s too late? Sure, it looks like there are occasional cuts away from the pod via flashbacks, but it seems we\u2019re looking at a one-location film similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> like\u00a0<em>Phone Booth<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Buried<\/em>. This trailer is appropriately vague \u2013 just what is the deal here? Is\u00a0M\u00e9lanie Laurent in space? The future? A clone? I don\u2019t know, and more importantly, neither does she \u2013 finding answers to questions is part of the narrative. Here\u2019s a synopsis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Oxygen is a French survival thriller directed by Alexandre Aja. The film tells the story of a young woman (M\u00e9lanie Laurent, 6 Underground, Inglourious Basterds), who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn\u2019t remember who she is or how she ended up there. As she\u2019s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Oxygen<\/em> also stars\u00a0<strong>Mathieu Amalric<\/strong> (<em>The French Dispatch<\/em>) and <strong>Malik Zidi<\/strong> (<em>Play<\/em>). <strong>Christie LeBlanc<\/strong> wrote the script. \u201cI remember reading Christie LeBlanc\u2019s script when it appeared on the Black List and feeling like it captured such an intense experience of survival so well,\u201d Aja <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/melanie-laurent-new-movie-netflix-alexandre-aja-oxygen-images\/\">said<\/a> in an interview. \u201cIt got me thinking of the best of<em> Buried<\/em>, but with a <em>28 Days Later<\/em> twist. I was in it all the way, I pictured myself waking up locked in this cryo unit, trying to figure out who put me there and why, I felt her desperation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aja is hit or miss for me. I often like the style of his films, but their contents leave something to be desired. However, his most recent work, the 2019 alligator horror movie\u00a0<em>Crawl<\/em>, was pretty damn great, so I\u2019m hoping he can keep that momentum going.\u00a0<em>Crawl<\/em> played up the claustrophobic elements of trapping people in a crawlspace, and\u00a0<em>Oxygen<\/em> takes that claustrophobia to the next level with an even smaller space.
