“#ESPN rebuffed Mike Golic\u2019s push to revive \u2018Mike & Mike\u2019: wife<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Even a \u201cMike & Mike\u201d reunion wasn\u2019t app<\/a>ealing enough for ESPN to keep Mike Golic on the radio.<\/p>\n

Shortly after The Post reported that ESPN was cancelling \u201cGolic & Wingo,\u201d ending a 20-year working relationship with the former football player, Golic\u2019s wife, Christine, said her husband proposed rejoining his longtime former co-host, Mike Greenberg, but was rebuffed by the network.<\/p>\n

After a fan on Twitter<\/a> said Greenberg needs a new partner, Christine responded (via Outkick the Coverage): \u201cIt was offered. No takers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Golic and Greenberg had an acrimonious split as the latter Mike made his push towards TV in 2017, landing the coveted role as the lead host of \u201cGet Up!\u201d Greenberg is now heading back to the radio with \u201cThe Mike Greenberg Show\u201d from noon-2 p.m. Any attempt to do a morning radio show would have conflicted with Greenberg\u2019s TV work.<\/p>\n

Golic was on vacation this week when news<\/a> broke, but he made an appearance on his show Wednesday morning to discuss the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI go away on vacation, what the hell happens? Oh my God. I come back and all of a sudden there\u2019s an expiration date,\u201d Golic said, while laughing. \u201cWe know what\u2019s going on, obviously, with the announcement (Tuesday). Our last show is gonna be July 31. It certainly was not my choice. I would\u2019ve loved to have kept doing the show, but listen, I didn\u2019t want to be cut by the Houston Oilers. I didn\u2019t want to be cut by the Miami Dolphins. Sometimes what you want and what happens isn\u2019t the same.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate what\u2019s been going on on Twitter, and the outpouring of positive thoughts. Certainly not everybody, and that\u2019s fine. You can\u2019t please everybody. It\u2019s been incredible what I\u2019ve heard from people out there and I do appreciate that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Golic, 57, didn\u2019t address his future, other than his desire to remain in sports media. His contract with ESPN is up after this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not retiring. I\u2019m too young to retire. My wife won\u2019t let me,\u201d Golic said. \u201cI\u2019m back Monday and I\u2019ll be back until July 31. I\u2019ll talk more about it then, what I\u2019m going to do. i\u2019m still going to stay in the business. This was management\u2019s choice to do it. Just like coaches, they have every right to do what they want to do. I would love to keep doing it, but not in the cards right now. We\u2019ll see where it goes.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
