On Thursday, the Silver Institute\u2019s World Silver Survey 2021, produced by researchers at Metals Focus, forecasted higher global silver demand and prices for this year. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> Global silver demand poised to rise this year; prices could jump more than 30%<\/p>\n<p>Gold had settled at $1,793.10 on Thursday, its highest level in nearly two months, with gains attributed in part to a fall in U.S. Treasury yields. Falling yields can be a positive for gold, reducing the opportunity cost of holding it and other commodities that don\u2019t offer yields.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, \u201cgold continues stepping higher, setting a higher high and higher lows in each of the three weeks since it re-tested March\u2019s nine-month low at $1,680,\u201d said Adrian Ash, director of research at BullionVault. \u201cConsumer demand in the giant markets of China and India is offering strong support, and Western ETF outflows have slowed to a trickle.\u201d Gold futures trade nearly 4% higher month to date.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, surging COVID-19 cases India and Japan in particular \u201chave revived fears over the global economic recovery,\u201d said Griffiths.<\/p>\n<p>India reported a global record of more than 314,000 new infections Thursday.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThese concerns have not only dragged U.S. interest rate expectations lower, boosting demand for nonyielding\u00a0gold, but have also lifted demand for safe-haven assets,\u201d Griffiths said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>Gold prices briefly pared losses in the im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te aftermath of the weekly U.S. jobless claims data Thursday, then headed toward session lows. Jobless benefit claims fell to 574,000 last week from a revised 586,000 a week earlier, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/ui\/data.pdf\" class=\"icon none\">U.S. Labor Department said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe U.S. weekly jobless claims data was much stronger than market expectations and this has stopped the gold price from soaring further,\u201d said Naeem Aslam, chief market analyst at AvaTrade. <\/p>\n<p>Also, \u201cif we look at the gold price on the daily time frame, the 100-day [simple moving average level] is also turning out to be a strong resistance,\u201d  he told MarketWatch. \u201cThe gold price needs to clear this resistance in order for the price to continue to move higher.\u201d The 100-day moving average is at $1,806.51, according to FactSet data.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Thursday, the Conference Board said the index of U.S. leading economic indicators rose 1.3% in March. Existing home-sales fell 3.7% to a seasonally-adjusted, annual rate of 6.01 million last month, the National Association of Realtors\u00a0reported, but median home prices rose by 17%. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the European Central Bank, as expected, left interest rates unchanged and made no changes to its bond-buying efforts on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>While the ECB seems to have \u201cdis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed the bond market\u201d Thursday by failing to expand its massive quantitative easing, \u201cits policy statement made a point of stressing just how dramatic that QE has already become,\u201d said BullionVault\u2019s Ash.<\/p>\n<p>On top of the Federal Reserve, Bank of Japan and U.K. Bank of England\u2019s commitments, \u201cthe sheer scale of ongoing stimulus means the long-term case for investing in gold remains solid,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Among other metals traded on Comex, May copper<br \/>\n        HGK21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210056589\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.60%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       settled at $4.27 a pound, down 0.1%, after climbing 1.6% on Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>July platinum<br \/>\n        PLN21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/218196645\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-1.04%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       shed 0.5% to $1,208.50 an ounce and June palladium<br \/>\n        PAM21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/217647915\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-1.43%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       edged down by 1.1% to $2,842.90 an ounce after settling at a fresh record high a day earlier. <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"byline article__byline\">\n<p>      <span>By<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"author  hasMenu\" data-scrim='{\"type\":\"author\",\"header\":\"Myra P.
