The woman accused of\u00a0fatally gunning down her ex-girlfriend\u00a0execution-style in broad daylight on a Park Slope street was ordered held without bail at her arraignment Thursday\u00a0\u2014 as prosecutors revealed a disturbing history of domestic violence in their relationship.<\/p>\n

Latisha Bell, 38, was arraigned during a virtual Brooklyn Criminal Court hearing on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the Wednesday afternoon attack on 51-year-old Nichelle Thomas.<\/p>\n

Assistant District Attorney Wilfredo Coto said Bell and Thomas dated for nearly 20 years \u2014 and during that time, there were 14 domestic incident reports filed in which Bell was the \u201caggressor\u201d for 10 of them.<\/p>\n

The cold-blooded 1 p.m. shooting at Fourth Avenue and St. Marks Place was captured on surveillance video, obtained by The Post.<\/p>\n

In the video, Bell can be seen running up to Thomas from behind and blasting the victim once in the back of the head at point-blank range before fleeing, prosecutors charge. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thomas was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

Hours after the shooting, Bell, armed with a loaded gun, surrendered to cops at the 78th Precinct station house.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am turning myself in for the homicide. The gun is inside the bag,\u201d Bell confessed to police, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

When Bell turned herself in, she handed over the gun, which was in her purse, and was wearing the same clothing she had on in the video, Coto said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe defendant walked into the precinct and makes admissions in regards to the shooting and directs officers to the gun which is recovered from defendant\u2019s bag on the defendant\u2019s person,\u201d explained Coto.<\/p>\n

At the precinct, Bell admitted, \u201cI need to talk to the homicide detective. I did the shooting,\u201d according to the complaint, which noted that cops recovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver from Bell\u2019s bag.<\/p>\n

Judge Maria Aragona remanded Bell at her arraignment and ordered her to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Her next court date was scheduled for April 27.<\/p>\n

Outside the Brooklyn courthouse, a woman who identified herself as Bell\u2019s sister defended the suspect to reporters and described her sibling as \u201cmentally ill.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[My sister] tried to leave [Thomas] alone, but the woman kept going back to her. Every time she see my sister doing well, she kept going back to her knowing she was mentally disabled,\u201d the relative, who declined to give her name, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen my sister left her she should have kept going. You don\u2019t play with the mentally ill,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, neighbors of Thomas, who lived at an apartment building in Brooklyn\u2019s Boerum Hill, said she had at least two children as well as grandchildren.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a beautiful person. I know she was going to school to be an ACS worker or something,\u201d said Maria Lopez, 70, who has lived in that building for nearly five decades.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, neighbors smelled gas in the victim\u2019s building and knocked on her door to find her son in tears clutching his mother\u2019s photo, said Lopez.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw the son with her picture in his hand and [he] was drastically crying and he couldn\u2019t even answer us right. We didn\u2019t even understand what he was saying,\u201d Lopez said. \u201cThat was horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was devastated,\u201d the distraught neighbor continued.\u00a0 \u201cI started crying. He said he has gotten a call from his cousin or something that she had died.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lopez said she was stunned by the shooting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe in broad daylight people would do something as drastic,\u201d Lopez said. \u201cIt\u2019s like if we are in the movies<\/a> or something. It\u2019s really hard.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
