Last month, we learned\u00a0Russell Crowe<\/strong> had a role in\u00a0Thor: Love and Thunder<\/em><\/strong>. Now, we know who he\u2019s playing, and it seems obvious in retrospect. Crowe will play the king of the gods himself, Zeus. The confirmation comes from Crowe himself, who either didn\u2019t get the memo about keeping things hush-hush, or he didn\u2019t care. In either case, Crowe spilled the beans during a radio interview.<\/p>\n

During an interview with\u00a0Australian radio station Joy 94.9 (via Coming Soon<\/a>), Russell Crowe revealed he\u2019s playing Zeus in\u00a0Thor: Love and Thunder<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m going to get on my bicycle and I\u2019m going to ride up to Disney Fox Studios,\u201d said Crowe. \u201cAround 9:15, I shall be Zeus. It\u2019s for Thor. It\u2019s my last day of Zeus-ing about and I\u2019m going to enjoy it.\u201d
\nIn Greek mythology, Zeus is the king of the gods of Mount Olympus. That carries over into Marvel comics<\/a> as well, where Zeus is \u201ca member of the Olympians, a group of humanoid beings that hail from the pocket dimension of Olympus. He was worshiped by the humans of Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. He is supreme monarch of the Olympians, God of the heavens, sky, and weather.\u201d<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t know just yet how big a role Crowe will have, but I\u2019m guessing it\u2019s not going to be huge. In either case, it\u2019s fun to see that the\u00a0Thor<\/em>\u00a0franchise is bringing in even more god characters. Add more gods, I say! Get all of them in there. Why not? The sky\u2019s the limit, literally. Crowe can ham it up with the best of them, and I\u2019m sure it\u2019s going to be very entertaining to see him as Zeus, no matter how big or small the role is.<\/p>\n

Crowe is part of a cast that includes returning Thor<\/em> and Marvel franchise players\u00a0Chris Hemsworth,<\/strong> Tessa Thompson<\/strong>, Natalie Portman<\/strong>, Chris Pratt<\/strong>, Jaimie Alexander<\/strong>, Pom Klementieff<\/strong>, Dave Bautista<\/strong>, Karen Gillan<\/strong>, Sean Gunn<\/strong>, and Jeff Goldblum<\/strong>. A newcomer to the series<\/a> is Christian Bale<\/strong>, who is playing the film\u2019s villain,\u00a0Gorr the God Butcher.<\/p>\n

Taika Waititi is once again directing the pic. Full plot details aren\u2019t available just yet \u2013 but we do know the story will involve Natalie Portman\u2019s Jane Foster becoming the female version of Thor, and Tessa Thompson\u2019s Valkyrie, now the leader of Asgard, will be searching for a queen to rule alongside her.<\/p>\n
