“#Protesters vandalize Central Park monument and clash with police<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Protesters clashed with police in Manhattan on Thursday night after a monument was vandalized by cop-haters in Central Park.<\/p>\n

Six people were arrested in Columbus Circle near the USS Maine National Monument, which was defaced with anti-police graffiti, cops said. <\/p>\n

\u201cACAB,\u201d an acronym for \u201cAll Cops are Bastards,\u201d and \u201cF\u2013k 12,\u201d which means \u201cF\u2013k the police,\u201d were spray-painted onto the monument.<\/p>\n

\u201cStonewall was a riot,\u201d was also written in the pink spray paint.<\/p>\n

The NYPD condemned the vandalism in a social media<\/a> post.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe respect everyone\u2019s right to peacefully protest, but vandalism is not part of peaceful protest,\u201d the department wrote on Twitter<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working to de-escalate the situation to prevent further damage from occurring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those arrested are facing assault and damage to public property charges, according to a tweet<\/a> from NYPD Manhattan South.\n <\/div>\n
