If you\u2019ve been paying for ProtonMail for a while but would like to downgrade to the free plan, you can do so relatively easily.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Before_You_Downgrade_Your_ProtonMail_Plan\"><\/span>Before You Downgrade Your ProtonMail Plan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A paid ProtonMail subscription grants you features and additional storage that you don\u2019t get with a free plan. Before you downgrade, you should make sure that you prepare your account accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>When you downgrade to the free tier, your account will be limited to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500MB of storage<\/li>\n<li>a single address (with no aliases)<\/li>\n<li>no custom domains<\/li>\n<li>three labels, no filters, and no autoresponder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you\u2019re downgrading to a cheaper paid plan, you will also need to make sure that you\u2019re within the bounds of this plan\u2019s limitations beforehand.<\/p>\n<p>Before you downgrade, make sure that you\u2019ve reduced the amount of email stored in your inbox to below the 500MB mark (for the free tier). Additional aliases under Settings &gt; Addresses\/Users can also be removed using the \u201cDisable\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p>Any aliases that you remove will no longer be able to receive or send emails. The free plan will appear on the far left of the list. Click on \u201cSwitch to Free\u201d to start the process.<\/p>\n<p>Finalize your decision by providing any information requested, followed by the \u201cConfirm\u201d button.
