Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday lauded former President Donald Trump for encouraging all Americans to get the COVID-19 vaccine in an interview this week with The Post.<\/p>\n

When asked by a reporter during his daily City Hall press briefing how \u201cvaluable\u201d Trump\u2019s message on the need for everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible might be, de Blasio responded, \u201cI think it\u2019s really valuable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am glad he did that,\u201d de Blasio, normally a fierce critic of the former commander-in-chief, said of Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe gotta speak to everyone, we gotta tell everyone it\u2019s so important to get vaccinated, including folks who had doubts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump told Post columnist Michael Goodwin \u2014 in an interview published online Thursday and on the front page of Friday\u2019s NY Post print edition \u2014 that he\u2019s \u201call in favor of the vaccine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one of the great achievements, a true miracle, and not only for the United States. We\u2019re saving tens of millions of lives throughout the world. We\u2019re saving entire countries,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
