If you want, you can change this default shell to something of your liking, like Command Prompt or Ubuntu (Linux). This is done by changing a bit of code in the settings file.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Change_the_Default_Shell_in_Windows_Terminal\"><\/span>Change the Default Shell in Windows Terminal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s a code in Windows Terminal\u2019s settings file that decides what shell opens the first. There\u2019s a heading at the top of each section saying what each shell is for.<\/p>\n<p>For example, PowerShell\u2019s section says \u201cMake changes here to the powershell.exe profile.\u201d Similarly, Command Prompt\u2019s section says \u201cMake changes here to the cmd.exe profile.\u201d Ubuntu\u2019s section has \u201cUbuntu\u201d to the right of \u201cname.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, copy the text that\u2019s written next to \u201cguid\u201d in your shell section. You don\u2019t need to copy the double quotes. Remove the text that\u2019s written next to this field and paste your copied guid here.
