Analysts at Barclays Capital said even at 18 times enterprise value\/earnings before interest and tax, the unit still would trade at a discount to Kerry<br \/>\n        KRZ,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202059924\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.14%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       DSM<br \/>\n        DSM,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205433811\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.13%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Symrise<br \/>\n        SY1,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207710023\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.45%<\/bg-quote><span>.<\/span>\n      <\/p>\n<p>In the six months to Sept. 30, the food and beverage solutions arm recorded an adjusted operating profit of \u00a398 million on revenue of \u00a3475 million, and the primary products unit recorded an adjusted operating profit of \u00a383 million on revenue of \u00a3842 million.<\/p>\n<p>A clean exit might not be possible, and Tate &amp; Lyle implicitly acknowledged this by saying it is in talks to sell a \u201ccontrolling\u201d stake. Analysts at Jefferies point out that two major U.S. plants for Tate &amp; Lyle make products both for the primary products as well as food and beverage solutions division. Another issue, the analysts noted, is that Tate &amp; Lyle currently benefits from the ability to offset U.K. tax losses against U.S. profits, a benefit it wouldn\u2019t enjoy as much in a joint venture scenario.<\/p>\n<p>The FTSE 100<br \/>\n        UKX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598409\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.32%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       meandered on Monday, ahead of a big week for earnings including the latest results from electric vehicle maker Tesla<br \/>\n        TSLA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203558040\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.35%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       after the close of trade on Wall Street.
