Boarded-up storefronts still display makeshift notices that read \u2018black-owned\u2019 or \u2018minority-owned\u2019 to ward off further destruction.\u201d Long Her, an immigrant whose clothing store had much of its inventory looted, says he still hasn\u2019t heard from authorities. Flora Westbrooks, whose hair salon was burned to the ground, is waiting for officials to update her on what, if anything, can be done. Meanwhile, notes Tracey, \u201c\u200a\u2018Black Lives Matter\u2019 signs dot the yards of countless leafy homes across the area.\u201d Westbrook\u2019s neighbor, a white woman, displays one in her window. \u201cWestbrooks, who is black, does not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Urban desk: How To Destroy Cities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the surface, progressive \u2018blue America\u2019\u200a\u201d seems strong, with President Trump polling poorly and Joe Biden placating his party\u2019s \u201cactivist and identitarian wings\u201d \u2014 but, Joel Kotkin notes at Tablet, \u201cwoke progressives\u201d are \u201cundermining their own urban base\u201d through \u201ccrushingly high taxes, regulatory burdens and dysfunctional schools.\u201d That\u2019s why \u201cNew York, Los Angeles and Chicago have lost population\u201d over the last few years, while \u201cthe suburbs, exurbs and sprawling cities of the interior\u201d have grown. Instead of trying to reverse the \u201cexodus,\u201d big-city mayors have \u201cconceded enormous credibility\u201d to radicals who believe in \u201cunleashing violence and disorder as an intimidation tactic\u201d \u2014 a \u201criot ideology\u201d that will \u201caccelerate urban feudalism, driving out middle-class families and businesses\u201d and \u201cleaving only the lords and the peasants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conservative: Kanye and the \u2018Uncancellables\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cR<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er, producer and sneaker salesman Kanye West is almost certainly not running for president,\u201d but just upping his profile in advance of dropping his next album, argues Ben Sixsmith at Spectator USA. But whatever he does, the left can\u2019t destroy him, because he is one of the \u201cpeople who somehow transcend cancellation\u201d \u2014 like Elon Musk or J.K. Rowling. That doesn\u2019t mean they merit \u201chero worship,\u201d as some on the right opted for after West praised President Trump. Still, you \u201chave to respect someone who gets rich and starts to say whatever they want. What is the point of f-you money if you never say f-you?\u201d Plus, their ability to \u201ctake heat without apology or ruin .\u2009.\u2009. exposes the pack dogs of political correctness as being something less formidable than one might have imagined.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Media watch: Another Bald-Faced Lie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to The New York Times, President Trump stoked \u201cracial fears to pit a white voting base against nationwide calls for social justice\u201d in his Mount Rushmore speech \u2014 a claim, The Washington Post\u2019s Marc Thiessen points out, that isn\u2019t remotely true. In reality, Trump praised \u201cgreat black Americans\u201d and \u201cthe righteous movement for civil rights.\u201d Because he also criticized radicals who \u201cburn buildings and tear down statues,\u201d though, the media repeated its \u201cinsidious habit\u201d of twisting his words to make it seem he was sowing racial animosity. He didn\u2019t; he \u201cdeclared that no one would cancel the American Founding on his watch.\u201d If such \u201ccelebrating and defending of our founding principles\u201d is divisive, it \u201ctells us less about Trump\u201d than about \u201cthe sad state of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Libertarian: A Perilous Redefinition of Violence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Progressives are waging a \u201csocially corrosive\u201d effort to \u201cradically redefine \u2018violence,\u2019\u200a\u201d warns Reason\u2019s Billy Binion. Current Affairs\u2019 Nathan Robinson and The New York Times\u2019 Nikole Hannah-Jones, for example, argue that \u201cviolence\u201d refers only to harming a person, not property. \u201cHuman lives are more intrinsically valuable than inanimate objects,\u201d of course, but destroying property is still violence, and redefining the word just trivializes the struggles of minority business owners now trying to recover from that \u00addestruction. And other left-wingers are expanding the definition with slogans like \u201cSilence Is Violence,\u201d as well as widespread claims that speech (unwelcome ideas, or the wrong pronouns) can be an act of violence.
