The only \u201cgreen\u201d thing they want is slime.<\/p>\n

Children\u2019s entertainment giant Nickelodeon is getting slimed online by conservatives over a recent Earth Day special discussing how pollution disproportionately affects communities of color. <\/p>\n

\u201cLearn the meaning of environmental racism,\u201d Nickelodeon tweeted Friday<\/a>, along with a video of the segment, which currently boasts nearly 500,000 views. <\/p>\n

In the clip, part of the \u201cNick News<\/a>\u201d series<\/a>, host Jamie Yuccas discusses why certain areas face more health hazards than others. <\/p>\n

The CBS News correspondent chalks up the disparity to \u201cenvironmental racism, a form of systemic racism where minority and low-income communities are surrounded by health hazards because they live near sewage, mines, landfills, power stations, major roads.\u201d<\/p>\n

Examples range from the toxic air of the POC-populated South Bronx to a mining project in San Carlos, Arizona, that \u201cwould dishonor an Apache sacred site,\u201d per the clip.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, the PSA didn\u2019t sit well with right-wing viewers, who accused the network of trying to indoctrinate children. Nickelodeon\u2019s official account disabled replies, only to be inundated by a vicious retweet-storm. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd with this my family will never watch Nickelodeon again,\u201d fumed one detractor<\/a>. \u201cKeep your politics out of our kids shows.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember the good old days when Nickelodeon brought equality to the world by dumping green slime on anyone who professed their ignorance,\u201d wrote another critic.<\/a><\/p>\n

Townhall.com senior editor Matt Vespa\u00a0lamented<\/a>, \u201cRemember the good ole\u2019 days when the network just aired salute your shorts, hey dude, rugrats, the adventures of Pete and Pete, Rockos modern life\u2026 AND didn\u2019t peddle this left-wing drivel. Sad \u2013 truly sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nickelodeon isn\u2019t the first kids entertainment titan to be accused of forcing anti-racist politics onto children. Disney sparked an uproar in March after dropping several \u201cracist\u201d titles from the Kids Profile on Disney Plus.<\/p><\/div>\n
