The Greatest Beer Run Ever<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Peter Farrelly<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0Green Book<\/em> follow-up that reunites him with star Viggo Mortensen<\/strong>, just added another cast member to help out with the titular beer run.\u00a0Dylan O\u2019Brien<\/strong> is in negotiations to take the lead role in the film, with Mortensen set for a supporting part. O\u2019Brien is known for\u00a0Teen Wolf<\/em> and also\u00a0The Maze Runner<\/em> franchise, so maybe they should retitle this\u00a0The Greatest Maze Run Ever<\/em> instead. Or not. They can do whatever they want, I don\u2019t really care that much.<\/p>\n

Variety says that Dylan O\u2019Brien is in negotiations to join\u00a0The Greatest Beer Run Ever<\/em> from director Peter Farrelly. The film is based on the book of the same name by\u00a0John \u201cChick\u201d Donohue and J. T. Molloy, telling the true story of Donohue\u2019s attempt to track down his friends in the Army while they were still fighting in Vietnam. Here\u2019s more from the official synopsis:<\/p>\n

One neighborhood patriot came up with an inspired\u2014some would call it insane\u2014idea. Someone should sneak into Vietnam, track down their buddies there, give them messages of support from back home, and share a few laughs over a can of beer. It would be the Greatest Beer Run Ever. But who\u2019d be crazy enough to do it? One man was up for the challenge\u2014a U. S. Marine Corps veteran turned merchant mariner who wasn\u2019t about to desert his buddies on the front lines when they needed him. Chick volunteered. A day later, he was on a cargo ship headed to Vietnam, armed with Irish luck and a backpack full of alcohol. Landing in Qui Nho\u2019n, Chick set off on an adventure that would change his life forever\u2014an odyssey that took him through a series<\/a> of hilarious escapades and harrowing close calls, including the Tet Offensive. But none of that mattered if he could bring some cheer to his pals and show them how much the folks back home app<\/a>reciated them.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

O\u2019Brien will play the lead, so I guess that makes him Chick Donohue. And since Mortensen is listed in a supporting role, I\u2019m assuming he\u2019s playing the Marine Corps vet who helps with the journey.\u00a0Brian Currie<\/strong> and Pete Jones<\/strong> will co-write the script with Farrelly.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve yet to see\u00a0Green Book<\/em>, but I know it has plenty of detractors. That said, the film was a commercial success and won Oscars, and in the end, that\u2019s what studios care about the most. Expect\u00a0The Greatest Beer Ever<\/em> to get the prestige pic treatment whenever it\u2019s released.<\/p>\n
