He\u2019s no longer singing the blues.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After three months of being trapped on a Chinese boy band competition show, Russian language interpreter Vladislav Ivanov has finally been set free.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThank y\u2019all for your support,\u201d said Ivanov, 27, on social media<\/a> platform Weibo Saturday. He was lauding fans of the reality series<\/a> \u201cProduce Camp 2021\u201d for voting him out of the singing contest.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am finally clocking out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

His welcomed liberation from the 10-week race for pop superstar status comes after repeatedly begging the audience to take him out of the running.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBecoming a member of a boy band is not my dream, as I can\u2019t sing and dance,\u201d Ivanov pleaded during his regrettable stint on the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope the judges won\u2019t support me,\u201d he added. \u201cWhile the others want to get an \u2018A,\u2019 I want to get an \u2018F,\u2019 as it stands for freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the more Ivanov cried for help after the show premiered in mid-February, the more\u00a0viewers would vote for his continued participation in the competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The unscripted series \u2014 billed as both \u201cProduce Camp 2021\u201d and \u201cChuang 2021 \u2014 pits 90 male-icon wannabes against each other for a coveted slot in an international boy band.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Each episode, the fame-hungry contestants perform a song in front of a live studio audience. The crowd then votes finalists into the next round of the music match.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The last 11 contenders standing will then form a K-pop inspired<\/a> collective of young harmonizing hotties. Think Korean singing group BTS.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Ivanov \u2014 who performed on the show under the stage name Lelush, an ode to his favorite anime<\/a> character, Lelouch Lamperouge \u2014 never wanted to be famous.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fluent in both Chinese and English, the Russian-born linguist initially signed on to be a translator on the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But after some serious prodding from the producers, who were reportedly mesmerized by his good looks, an admittedly introverted Ivanov agreed to join in on the songbird showdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was an ill-advised decision he immediately rued.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe director saw that I am fluent in Mandarin and they thought I\u2019m good-looking<\/a>, so they asked if I\u2019d like to have a try and experience a new lifestyle,\u201d Ivanov said, during a backstage interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c[But] dancing and singing every day, I\u2019m really exhausted and now starting to regret my decision,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

And he couldn\u2019t just leave.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ivanov, along with his fellow contestants, was sequestered in a dormitory on a manmade island off of China\u2019s tropical Hainan province.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their phones were confiscated at the onset of production. They were filmed on a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week schedule and were forced to fine-tune their singing and dancing talents \u2019round the clock.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And if any of the competitors tried to leave the show before being voted off by watchers, they\u2019d be forced to pay a steep fine.\u00a0<\/p>\n
