“#Arizona\u2019s Flag Fire surges in size, prompting evacuations<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Flag Fire\u00a0in\u00a0Arizona\u00a0has swelled to a\u00a0dangerous\u00a0level, prompting officials to issue\u00a0evacuation\u00a0orders Monday.<\/p>\n

The fire broke out near Kingman on Sunday around 2 p.m. By 5:30 p.m., the fire had spread to cover around 600 acres.<\/p>\n

Around 200 homes have so far been affected by the evacuation order.<\/p>\n

A strong wind throughout the afternoon pushed the fire to the north. The low relative humidity encouraged the fire, though officials hope that a higher humidity on Monday will help to mitigate further spread.<\/p>\n

The Mohave County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u00a0issued evacuation orders<\/a>\u00a0for Pine Lake community, Hualapai Mountain Park and the Hualapai Mountain Lodge.<\/p>\n

Roads in the area were closed as of Sunday night except for evacuees and first responders.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office\u00a0deployed a helicopter Monday morning<\/a>\u00a0for air reconnaissance to gather a more complete picture of how far the fire had spread.<\/p>\n

The fire originated between the Flag Mine and Wild Cow Campground in the Hualapai Mountains,\u00a0according to AZ Family<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Flag Fire is currently burning in an area adjacent to the site of the\u00a02020 Ridge Fire<\/a>. The Ridge Fire forced evacuations in the same towns and communities, burning app<\/a>roximately 2,280 acres.<\/p>\n

The cause of the Flag Fire is currently under investigation,\u00a0according to AZ Central<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Red Cross established shelters overnight to offer assistance to anyone affected by the evacuation orders.<\/p>\n
