A devastating\u00a0fire\u00a0at a\u00a0Kentucky\u00a0dog kennel\u00a0killed more than 50 dogs and puppies\u00a0last week.<\/p>\n

Ron Kraemer, the owner of Doggy Style Kennels in\u00a0Bardstown, announced on\u00a0Facebook<\/a>\u00a0alongside a video of the burning kennels, that he had returned home from buying dog food with his associate\u00a0to discover the horrific scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cTo my clients and friends, I came home from town today with a load of dog food to find my kennels in flames. I have lost all my dogs and puppies except for Candy that somehow pushed her way through the gate,\u201d\u00a0he wrote<\/a>. \u201cYou can imagine how devastating this is. My dogs were my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kraemer, who specialized in breeding Labrador Retrievers, told Fox News<\/a> on Tuesday that 27 full-grown dogs died and the rest of the animals killed in the fire were puppies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOn our way back, just as I began to pull into my road \u2014 which is about 2 miles to my house from the beginning \u2014 I got a call. It was one of my neighbors telling me that my kennels were on fire,\u201d he said. \u201cI rushed home. When I got there, they were engulfed in flames. And, by that time, every animal had perished.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the female dogs, Candy, had escaped the flames in time by pushing her way through the gate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess her adrenaline gave her superpowers and she pushed her way out,\u201d Kraemer said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Kraemer\u00a0told WAVE3 News<\/a>\u00a0that Candy had lost \u201cevery single one\u201d of her litter.<\/p>\n

The breeder, who has been working in the field for 25 years, said that attempts made by neighbors to save the dogs were fruitless and that \u2014 although he thinks they called the\u00a0fire department\u00a0\u2014 he could \u201cplainly see it was too late for anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kraemer told WDRB<\/a>\u00a0that he hasn\u2019t been told how the fire officially started but said Tuesday that he believes it was\u00a0electrical.<\/p>\n

He noted that the\u00a0weather\u00a0had chilled and that each doghouse of puppies had a heat lamp to keep them warm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would app<\/a>ear looking at it in the very beginning, I have the security cameras, that it came from the right side which would have been where the heat lamps were,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He noted there was \u201cno\u00a0accelerant or anything like that nowhere stored near\u201d them.<\/p>\n

He assured his followers that the fire would \u201cnot be the end of Doggy Style Kennels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got [cleaning] up to do,\u201d he told Fox News. \u201cAnd then, I am going to get in the mode of bringing it back, bringing everything back to even better.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Kraemer received many comments of support, WDRB reported he had also received criticism by some accusing him of running a puppy mill due to the number of dogs in the kennel at the time of the fire.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you want to call me a puppy mill because I have a continuous flow of puppies, go for it, alright? But there is nobody that does this better than I do. There is nobody that treats their dogs any better,\u201d Kraemer told the station.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Echoing his previous comments, Kraemer said Tuesday that he had seen the accusations and said that \u201cnobody does what I do any better \u2026 from a [humanitarian] and ethical standpoint.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kraemer said he had sold thousands of puppies to owners in every state and has not had one unhappy client, to his knowledge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am the most transparent breeder you\u2019ve ever seen,\u201d he said, noting that \u201ceverything is recorded and shared in the community\u201d and that he currently has more than \u201c100 deposits.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI do it because I love it and it\u2019s my passion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe page has been set up<\/a>\u00a0by a former client and exceeded its $5,000 goal.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a separate Facebook post a day later<\/a>, Kraemer said he was overwhelmed by the support he\u2019s received.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I\u2019m blown away. I have people calling offering their dogs to breed and help, you know, replenish my stock,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd, it\u2019s been mindblowing.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
