Nowadays, I frequently give up hunting and do something more productive instead, like reading or collecting lint from my belly button.<\/p>\n<p>But doomscrolling through Netflix\u2019s catalog is no longer the only way to find those rare nuggets of\u00a0gold. After years of testing, the streaming behemoth has finally launched a shuffle button that lets an <span id=\"urn:enhancement-8\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.thenextweb.com\/tnw\/null\/entity\/algorithm_5\">algorithm<\/span> do the digging\u00a0instead.<\/p>\n<p>Imaginatively named \u201cPlay Something,\u201d the feature recommends shows based on your viewing history.<\/p>\n<p>Click the button and Netflix will play a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> or film that the recommendation system thinks you\u2019ll enjoy. If you\u2019re not impressed by the suggestion, keep hitting \u201cPlay Something Else,\u201d and you\u2019ll hopefully find something tolerable before your thumbs fall off.<\/p>\n<p><em>[Read:\u00a03 new technologies ecommerce brands can use to connect better with customers]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Play Something is now available worldwide on Netflix\u2019s TV <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>, and will launch on Android devices soon. You can find it beneath your profile name, on the tenth row of your Netflix homepage, or in the navigation menu on the left of your screen.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Netflix Play Something Product Feature\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Lmh1GvkUM2Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Netflix is making a bit deal out of the launch. The company has produced an excruciating <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sY2djp46FeY\">trailer for Play Something<\/a>, featuring an anthropomorphized TV remote \u201cjoking\u201d that viewers can no longer control what they watch.<\/p>\n<p>The ad almost made me cancel my subscription in disgust, but I bravely gave Play Something instead.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Netflix_please_play_something_else\"><\/span>Netflix, please play something else<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First up, Play Something recommends the 13-year-old first episode of <em>Breaking Bad<\/em>. That\u2019s a pretty damning indictment of Netflix\u2019s recent releases.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Play Something Else<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Next, <em>The Irishman<\/em>. I already watched <em>Goodfellas: Part III<\/em> in the cinema, and I almost fell asleep. I\u2019m not gonna spend 210 minutes giving it another chance on the small screen.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Play Something Else<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Finally, it tries to make me watch <em>Narcos<\/em> again. It\u2019s another show I watched years ago \u2014 although, in fairness to Netflix, I had a different account at the time.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, I\u2019m spending almost as much time shuffling as I normally do scrolling, and I should probably get back to work.<\/p>\n<p>Play Something hasn\u2019t delivered for me yet. But if you\u2019re less jaded\/have awful taste, it might ensure you never have to stop watching TV again.<\/p>\n<p><em style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Greetings Humanoids!
