{"id":238992,"date":"2021-04-30T06:05:37","date_gmt":"2021-04-30T03:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/nvidia-again-limiting-crypto-mining-on-its-rtx-3060-gaming-graphics-card\/"},"modified":"2021-04-30T06:05:37","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T03:05:37","slug":"nvidia-again-limiting-crypto-mining-on-its-rtx-3060-gaming-graphics-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/nvidia-again-limiting-crypto-mining-on-its-rtx-3060-gaming-graphics-card\/","title":{"rendered":"# Nvidia again limiting crypto mining on its RTX-3060 gaming graphics card"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong># Nvidia again limiting crypto mining on its RTX-3060 gaming graphics card <\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-5a136f3a>Graphics card giant Nvidia is quietly reintroducing a hash rate limiter on its RTX 3060 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> graphics cards in an effort to disincentivize cryptocurrency miners.<\/p>\n<p>On April 29 the company issued the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/videocardz.com\/driver\/nvidia-geforce-game-ready-466-27-whql\">GeForce 466.27 driver<\/a> that reintroduces RTX 3060 cryptomining limiter.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-04\/599cb090-5a7b-40db-a069-9d2f24e5554f.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>GeForce 466.27 driver release notes, Source: <\/em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/us.download.nvidia.com\/Windows\/466.27\/466.27-win10-win8-win7-release-notes.pdf\"><em>Nvidia<\/em><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to sources reported by computer <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> site <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/videocardz.com\/newz\/nvidia-reintroduces-geforce-rtx-3060-cryptomining-hash-limiter\">Videocardz<\/a>, Nvidia will release the new \u2018Lite Hash Rate\u2019 models in mid-May which will be almost identical to previous versions of the same cards. <\/p>\n<p>The gaming giant had originally <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/2021\/02\/18\/geforce-cmp\/\">limited<\/a> the hash on the previous models, reducing mining performance by 50%. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/2021\/02\/18\/geforce-cmp\/\">Matt Wuebbling<\/a>, head of global GeForce marketing at Nvidia, said in a blog post in February: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe designed GeForce GPUs for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>rs, and gamers are clamoring for more.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hackers first came up with a workaround, and then in March, a driver update inadvertently unlocked this &#8216;limiter&#8217; unleashing the card\u2019s true potential of 118 Mh\/s, enabling the mining of Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p>The new cards are said to be identical in every way except that they will have a new PCI Device ID of 2504. Although the unlocked driver is now in the public\u2019s hands, the new ID is designed to render them useless if used with the 470.05 driver update. It is however virtually certain some miners will attempt to circumvent this, and the previous models were supposedly hard-locked via the BIOS.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-04\/08d12bd8-baf9-483a-b5ef-dd6d0b2da0c3.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>GeForce RTX 3060 new PCI Device ID in 466.27 drivers. Videocardz forum user \u201cEric W,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/disq.us\/p\/2gptvkb\">stated<\/a> that the move only seems to sideline small home miners, who are often gamers t:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWell this is a mixed bag. I want to buy a new gpu for gaming, but I also mine when I&#8217;m not actively playing games&#8230; I can&#8217;t buy a mining gpu because Nvidia seems to only sell them in quantities of several thousand and I have no interest in having 100s of mining rigs.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>User \u201cMark\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/disq.us\/p\/2gpsejn\">suggested<\/a> the limiter wouldn\u2019t put miners off anyway, adding that \u201cit needs to be 90%+\u201d to \u201cbe a real deterrent to miners\u201d\u00a0 while &#8220;Mashed Potato&#8221; <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/disq.us\/p\/2gpu9y1\">believes<\/a> it\u2019s just a money grab: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey still want miners to buy their cards\u2026 but twice as much.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to VideoCardz, limits are expected to be set on most RTX 30 series cards, although certain models, like the RTX 3090, may not end up with a limiter due to its high price tag of $1,500.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
