\n In the aftermath of Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson\u2019s anti-Semitic Instagram posts, which included quotes falsely attributed to Adolf Hitler, Jackson\u2019s teammates have mostly been silent \u2014 Marquise Goodwin got defensive after saying he wished Jackson\u2019s critics were as interested in discussing the Black Lives Matter movement. The team has released one statement, saying they were taking the matter seriously.<\/p>\n

A former member of the organization decided to speak up, however. Ex-Eagles defensive end Chris Long called the post \u201ca f\u2013king disaster.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, quoting Hitler is bad business, but quoting fake Hitler quotes is like a cherry on top,\u201d Long said on his \u201cGreen Light\u201d podcast. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019d be worse if he quoted a real one or the fake one. Needless to say, it\u2019s wrong \u2026 It seems like, and I don\u2019t know what it is, but it seems like we\u2019re not allowed to say, \u2018Hey, that\u2019s not good.\u2019 It\u2019s not good. It\u2019s wrong, and I\u2019m sure I have Jewish listeners. I\u2019m against anti-Semitism, and I didn\u2019t see and I haven\u2019t seen nearly enough people saying, \u2018Yeah, man, this was a misstep.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Long played the last two years of his career in Philadelphia, helping lead the team to a Super Bowl title in 2017. A former Walter Payton Man of the Year recipient, Long has consistently been an advocate for social<\/a> justice and has supported his teammates\u2019 protests both while he was in the league and since he retired.<\/p>\n

Long said he likes Jackson based on his previous interactions with him. Jackson has since apologized twice for his actions, but Long believes it is up to the Jewish community whether to accept that apology.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust like with Drew Brees, I don\u2019t get to decide when his apology or his learning process on this thing is complete,\u201d Long said. \u201cAll I know is that he talked bad about Jewish people, and somehow managed to use a fake Hitler quote doing it, and that is a f\u2013king disaster \u2026 I think it\u2019s f\u2013ked up, unequivocally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chiefs star tackle Mitchel Schwartz, one of the league\u2019s few Jewish players and brother of ex-Giant Geoff Schwartz, denounced Jackson\u2019s post as well. In his Twitter post, Schwartz emphasized the need for solidarity between the Jewish community and the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hope is that we can use this moment to shed light on and bring awareness to the hate and oppression the Jewish community still faces while standing strong with the Black Lives Matter movement,\u201d Schwartz wrote. \u201cWe can only have change if we denounce racism and bias in all its forms. Our platforms as athletes are a powerful tool, and with them comes immense responsibility. We can all do better.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
