After many months of failing health, she is finally at peace and with her Louis.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Related: Trans Drag Performer Natalia Sm\u00fct Allegedly Stabbed To Death By Boyfriend<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dukakis is probably best known for her role as<strong> Cher<\/strong>\u2019s mother, Rose Castorini, in the 1987 romantic comedy, <em>Moonstruck<\/em>. I was doing every TV movie I could get my hands on. My husband had been in a terrible accident and for five years he didn\u2019t work. I was hustling. It was not a pretty picture.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After landing <em>Moonstruck<\/em>, the director predicted she would win an Academy Award for the role. But Dukakis said she wasn\u2019t fazed by the sentiment, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOnly out of respect, I didn\u2019t say, \u2018You\u2019re an idiot.\u2019 Win an Academy Award for playing Rose? I don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It turned out he was right as she won an <strong>Oscar<\/strong> for Best Supporting Actress in 1998. Dukakis\u2019 long career included <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earances in several other films, including <em>Steel Magnolias<\/em> and <em>Mr. Holland\u2019s Opus<\/em>. Beyond the big screen, Dukakis also starred in more than 130 stage productions and 50 TV shows, including<em> Law &amp; Order<\/em>, <em>The Simpsons<\/em>, and <em>Man Equals Man<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Olympia Dukakis brought warmth, humor and wit to the stage and screen for almost 60 years, including a stellar run of unforgettable roles in &#8220;Steel Magnolias&#8221; &#8220;Tales of the City&#8221; and &#8220;Moonstruck,&#8221; for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
