Limits of EMS
<\/strong>As a former volunteer with Emergency Medical Services, I have responded to quite a few calls involving Emotionally Disturbed Persons (\u201cNYC expands no-police mental-health program,\u201d April 27).<\/p>\n

I can tell you that EMS and social<\/a> workers alone are not adequate for a lot of these calls. Many of these individuals are either on alcohol or drugs, off psychiatric medication and usually beyond talking to.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t tell you how many times we needed police assistance to restrain an individual before transporting them to an ER or psychiatric hospital.<\/p>\n

It is going to be an extreme undertaking for a city with a large number of mentally ill people and drug users. Who is going to support the social workers and EMS when they encounter an EDP who won\u2019t or can\u2019t listen to reason?<\/p>\n

Based upon my prior experience, I can already envision this program falling flat, just like most of Mayor de Blasio\u2019s other programs.

Remember Collins
<\/strong>Mike Collins was not a \u201cforgotten astronaut\u201d to those who watched it all unfold as kids (\u201cSpace hero dies,\u201d April 29).<\/p>\n

He was one of a group of very brave men walking into the unknown for the challenge and for science<\/a>. Several died. More almost died.<\/p>\n

These guys showed a generation of young explorers how to live and how to be humble.
Many preparing to fly with SpaceX and NASA now will know Michael Collins like many of us knew him \u2014 as a hero in the dawn of the space program when everything was not about the individual, but about the greater goals of exploration \u2014 and a little competition with the Soviets at the same time.<\/p>\n

There is much to be learned from those who saw it first-hand and those who made it happ<\/a>en.

\u2018Revenge\u2019 lunacy
<\/strong>The article \u201cWoman convicted of \u2018revenge porn\u2019 for sharing photos to prove fianc\u00e9 cheated\u201d (April 27) provides a perfect example of legal and judicial lunacy.<\/p>\n

An allegedly cheating ex-fianc\u00e9 impugned Bethany Austin\u2019s reputation by calling her \u201ccrazy.\u201d All that Austin did was set the record straight with her family and friends by sharing the revealing photos and texts another woman had sent her ex \u2014 to explain she wasn\u2019t crazy to call the wedding off.<\/p>\n

And for this, she gets convicted of \u201crevenge porn?\u201d

Flaw of tax hikes
<\/strong>Here we go again with more loony-left failed policies that will do nothing but hurt the economy (\u201cJoe\u2019s New Recovery-Killer,\u201d Editorial, April 29).<\/p>\n

Both Republicans and Democrats have previously cut capital-gains taxes. Why? Because they know investors change behavior in response to tax changes.<\/p>\n

Higher taxes mean fewer transactions, less tax revenue, less economic growth and fewer jobs. It is a lose\/lose situation, but at least bitter liberals will rejoice they are sticking it to the rich.

Kerry\u2019s Iran leaks
<\/strong>Not only did John Kerry negotiate one of the worst nuclear deals ever with Iran, we now find out that he was allegedly an informant for the Iranian government (\u201cBlab rat Kerry\u2019s a mullah mouth,\u201d April 27)<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t care what political party you belong to, telling our secrets to any foreign government, especially one who sponsors terror, is treason. Kerry should be forced to step down.
