Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"But_First_Why_You_Probably_Shouldnt_Opt_out\"><\/span>But First: Why You Probably Shouldn\u2019t Opt out<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p> Apple\u2019s Find My network is a crowdsourced system of hundreds of millions of Apple devices linked through the internet that helps people find AirTags as well as other lost or stolen Apple devices. It uses the combined power of every Apple device\u2019s Bluetooth sensors to detect nearby iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches, AirTags, AirPods, Apple Watches, and Macs. When a local Apple device on the network detects a lost Apple device nearby, it reports its approximate location back to the device\u2019s owner.<br \/>\nThanks to end-to-end encryption and techniques to anonymize the data, no personally identifying information is shared with anyone if you use the Find My network, so it\u2019s not a privacy issue <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2021\/04\/apples-find-my-network-now-offers-new-third-party-finding-experiences\/\">according to Apple<\/a>. In fact, neither Apple nor third parties can access the location of your devices\u2014only the person who is seeking the lost device can see their lost item\u2019s location.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, you are still in control of your own device, and if you\u2019d like to opt out of the Find My network, here\u2019s how to do it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_warning\"><p><strong>Warning:<\/strong> If you opt out of the Find My network on a device, you\u2019re also giving up the ability to use the network to locate your device if it gets lost.
