Embattled New York City mayoral candidate Scott Stringer vowed Tuesday to stay in the race, claiming he\u2019s \u201cnever felt this good\u201d about his campaign \u2014 despite a sexual assault allegation against him and a growing list of endorsers jumping ship.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnly when the voters decide they don\u2019t elect me, I guess I\u2019m out,\u201d Stringer, the city\u2019s comptroller, told NY1\u2019s \u201cMornings on 1\u201d when asked if he would withdraw. \u201cI think people are going to support me and I\u2019ve never felt this good about this campaign, believe it or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stringer has denied the allegations made against him last week by lobbyist and comedia<\/a>n Jean Kim, who says he groped and kissed her and made repeated unwanted sexual advances when she was an unpaid intern on his public advocate campaign when he was a State Assemblyman.<\/p>\n

The 61-year-old longtime Democratic politician claims Kim, 49, was a 30-year-old volunteer and \u201cpeer,\u201d not an intern, for his campaign and that the two had an \u201con-and-off\u201d consensual relationship.<\/p>\n

Stringer insisted again Tuesday the allegations were \u201ctotally and completely false\u201d \u2014even as he spoke of the importance of ensuring that \u201cwomen are heard\u201d when they come forward with sexual misconduct allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no merit to it. It didn\u2019t happ<\/a>en,\u201d Stringer said. \u201cAnd I just want everybody to know that this is not who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to insist he will be able to earn the backing of Big Apple voters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think New Yorkers will be able to figure it out,\u201d he said. \u201cI think that when you go out into the streets, the churches and subway stations, I think that there\u2019s tremendous support for me. I believe I\u2019m going to be the next mayor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stringer touted his endorsement from the UFT, and from Teamsters Local 237\u2014 representing school safety agents, among others\u2014which gave him a timely nod on Monday.<\/p>\n

Asked about recent polling, which shows he is trailing behind Andrew Yang and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Stringer insisted his campaign would surge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am the greatest comeback candidate that we\u2019ve seen in quite a while, I was down 20 points at this time with Eliot Spitzer, and I won that race,\u201d he said of his 2013 comptroller primary bid. \u201cI don\u2019t listen to these polls.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
