Actor Benedict\u00a0Cumberbatch did a disapp<\/a>earing act from the \u201cWandaVision\u201d finale because Marvel honchos didn\u2019t want a \u201cwhite guy\u201d stealing the show, a top studio boss said in a new interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cumberbatch, who has previously played sorcerer Dr. Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was originally set to make a cameo in the Disney+\u00a0show\u2019s last episode, Rolling Stone<\/a> reported Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But he was written out of the show, because \u201cit would have taken away from Wanda,\u201d\u00a0Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told the mag.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people might say, \u2018Oh, it would\u2019ve been so cool to see Dr. Strange,\u2019\u201d Feige said. \u201cBut it would have taken away from Wanda, which is what we didn\u2019t want to do. We didn\u2019t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie \u2014 here\u2019s the white guy, \u2018Let me show you how power works.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Feige told the\u00a0outlet Marvel\u2019s writing process is \u201ca wonderful combination of very dedicated coordination, and chaos. Chaos magic.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Head writer\u00a0Jac Schaeffer\u00a0said Cumberbatch\u00a0was also set to appear in one of \u201cWandaVision\u2019s\u201d commercials, which would have been messages from Dr. Strange to Wanda, but that idea was also cut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Instead of Dr. Strange saving the day, the show ended\u00a0with Wanda learning powers mostly on her own, and becoming\u00a0the\u00a0Scarlet Witch, according to\u00a0Insider<\/a>.\n <\/div>\n
