Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse cited Rios\u2019 experience in both the public and private sectors as well as her success in \u201crapidly accelerating businesses\u201d in the company\u2019s decision to bring her on board. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRipple is one of the best examples of how to use cryptocurrency in a substantive and legitimate role to facilitate payments globally,\u201d said Rios. \u201cBlockchain and crypto will underpin our future global financial systems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rios\u2019 name seems more closely associated with fiat than crypto, quite literally \u2014 all U.S. banknotes printed during her time as treasurer bear her signature. Her <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointment follows Yoshitaka Kitao, CEO of Japanese financial giant SBI Group, leaving the board after two years and being <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LeoHadjiloizou\/status\/1377155488568147972\">replaced<\/a> by SBI Ripple Asia CEO Adam Traidman.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple also announced Kristina Campbell, formerly with payments platform PayNearMe at fintech company GreenDot, will be joining the firm as chief financial officer to \u201caccelerate growth and deliver value to shareholders.\u201d Campbell said she aimed to use crypto and blockchain <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> to \u201cmake the global financial system accessible to all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new leadership follows the XRP cryptocurrency\u00a0losing its position as the fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization to Dogecoin (DOGE) for the first time. XRP only regained the number-four slot in April following rallies from Polkadot\u2019s DOT\u00a0and Binance Coin (BNB) as well as volatility in the token price. <\/p>\n<p>XRP\u2019s volatility has been attributed to charges brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission against Ripple, the firm\u2019s co-founder Chris Larsen, and Garlinghouse in December 2020. The SEC accuses Ripple of conducting an &#8220;unregistered, ongoing digital asset securities offering&#8221; through its XRP sales.
