“#Trump\u2019s been posturbating on private social media<\/a> for months<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Donald Trump today launched a private social media site. Its membership is so exclusive that only former US presidents who\u2019ve been impeached twice are allowed to post there.<\/p>\n

The site\u2019s called \u201cFrom The Desk of Donald J Trump<\/a>.\u201d That doesn\u2019t quite roll off the tongue like Twitter or Facebook. But I\u2019m holding out hope that we\u2019ll soon find out Trump\u2019s posts are called \u201cDeskies.\u201d That would be cute and this story needs something to lighten the mood because it\u2019s all very sad.<\/p>\n

App<\/a>arently 45\u2019s been posting away on FTDoDJT since 24 March. What makes this interesting is that Fox News<\/a> had the exclusive<\/a> and announced the site today, 4 May.<\/p>\n

That means the former president\u2019s been quietly posting to himself for months now.<\/p>\n

The idea here is probably something along the lines of launching with a bevy of material for readers to retweet and\/or post on Facebook. But that, too, seems dumb.<\/p>\n

Then again, maybe developing a social media platform from the ground up just to backdoor Jack Dorsey and Mark Zuckerberg into letting you post on their sites without permission is a perfectly rational PR strategy in the modern era.<\/p>\n

Perhaps Trump\u2019s innovation will inspire us all to carve out our own little spaces on the web where we can post to our heart\u2019s content without having to interact with other people. It\u2019s brilliant. Maybe we could decorate our spaces with GIFs and have them play music in the background when people visit them.<\/p>\n

The spaces, they\u2019d be ours. You know? They\u2019d be spaces that were just for us. Like, I\u2019d say \u201cthis here, is my space.\u201d Maybe one day we\u2019ll all gather our spaces on a single website where we can share them together with Trump.<\/p>\n

But what would we call it?<\/p>\n

Perhaps today\u2019s silly launch has something to do with this:\u00a0Facebook Oversight Board to announce if it\u2019ll reverse Trump ban on May 5.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
