President Joe Biden is travel<\/a>ing to Virginia and Louisiana this week to pitch his\u00a0American Jobs Plan \u2014 also called an \u201cinfrastructure\u201d plan. New bridges, safer highways and more broadband are easy sells.\u00a0But that\u2019s only half the story.<\/p>\n

This is also a massive and coercive push to unionize the American workforce \u2014 whether workers want it or not.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s plan is a wish list of changes sought by union bosses. It cancels right-to-work laws in 27 states that protect workers from having to pay union dues if they don\u2019t want to join.<\/p>\n

It also rigs union elections by replacing secret balloting with a system called card check. Organizers will be able to see which workers vote \u201cno\u201d and intimidate them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the 2020 presidential contest,\u00a0unions donated millions to Biden\u2019s campaign, manned phone banks and got out the vote for Democrats. Now it\u2019s payback time.<\/p>\n

The goal of the American Jobs Plan is to increase the ranks of dues-paying union members. When the next election rolls around, that will fund more campaign contributions to Democrats and more union help on Election Day.<\/p>\n

Unionizing America is the strategy to secure a permanent Democratic majority, the rights of rank-and-file workers be damned.<\/p>\n

Gig-economy independent contractors, such as Uber drivers, also lose their freedom under Biden\u2019s plan. It forces them to be \u201cemployees\u201d and therefore ripe for unionization. A similar plan imposed by California Democrats evoked popular outrage and had to be revoked. Unfazed, Biden\u2019s pushing ahead on a national scale.<\/p>\n

Addressing the nation last week, Biden boasted he\u2019ll protect labor\u2019s right to organize. News<\/a> flash: It doesn\u2019t need protecting. Only 10.8 percent of American workers are unionized because most workers don\u2019t want to share their paycheck with union bosses. In the private sector, it\u2019s even smaller, a minuscule 6 percent.<\/p>\n

When a union tried to organize Amazon warehouse employees in Bessemer, Ala., last month, Biden\u00a0blasted out a video on social media<\/a> supporting the union drive. But the warehouse workers\u00a0voted against unionizing.<\/p>\n

Congressional Republicans are bashing the $2.3 trillion price tag\u00a0on Biden\u2019s American Jobs Plan and the job-killing corporate tax hikes to pay for it. Those are legitimate grievances. But the GOP should also be protesting the president\u2019s assault on labor rights.<\/p>\n

Biden boasts he\u2019s a \u201cunion president.\u201d Someone has to look out for the 90 percent of workers who don\u2019t belong to unions. Republicans should make it their job.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On April 26, Biden wrongly claimed that it is \u201cthe policy of the United States to encourage worker organizing and collective bargaining,\u201d and he called for an increase in \u201cworker power\u201d \u2014 sounding like Karl Marx calling on workers to unite. In an unprecedented move, he is also establishing a task force to throw the entire weight of the federal government behind organizing American workers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Recent\u00a0polls show a slim majority of Americans support the infrastructure plan. That\u2019s because they haven\u2019t seen the fine print making it nearly impossible for nonunion employers and workers to benefit. When union organizers show up at job sites, contractors will have to stay \u201cneutral,\u201d according to the slippery language in Biden\u2019s plan, instead of\u00a0making their case like Amazon successfully did.<\/p>\n

To unionize America, Biden stretches the meaning of \u201cinfrastructure\u201d to include anything your tax dollars can buy. The biggest item is a whopping $400 billion\u00a0to pay home health workers,\u00a0who will be given \u201can opportunity to organize or join a union and collectively bargain.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2020, the Service Employees International Union, which represents these aides, supported Biden, and candidate Biden\u00a0pledged $450 billion for more health-aide jobs. On your tab, of course.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s plan fleeces taxpayers and sabotages the rights of nonunion workers. All under the guise of \u201cinfrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n

April\u2019s jobs report, to be released Friday, is expected to show possibly more than 1 million new hires. The economy is rebounding without Biden\u2019s infrastructure bill. America needs better roads and bridges, but not at the cost of workers\u2019 freedom. The GOP should stand firm on that principle.<\/p>\n
