NYPD cops rescued a woman who refused to come down from the ledge of a Brooklyn overpass on Tuesday night, authorities and witnesses said. <\/p>\n

The woman was first spotted by a motorist on a railing atop an entrance ramp to the Gowanus Expressway in Bay Ridge at about 6:15 p.m., police said.<\/p>\n

The driver tried to talk to the woman, but she would not respond, cops said.<\/p>\n

Members of the NYPD\u2019s Emergency Service Unit arrived, along with other cops, and closed a portion of the roadway surrounding 65th Street and 3rd Avenue as they communicated with the woman. <\/p>\n

After a nearly hour-long standoff, two ESU cops were able to grab the woman from the railing after she dropped her cigarette, according to a witness.<\/p>\n
