\n WASHINGTON \u2014 President Trump on Thursday said he was \u201cnot satisfied\u201d with the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling\u00a0that a New York grand jury can subpoena his tax returns, lashing his native New York as a \u201chell hole.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a certain point I\u2019m satisfied, from another point I\u2019m not satisfied because frankly this is a political witch hunt, the likes of which nobody\u2019s ever seen,\u201d Trump told reporters at the White House.<\/p>\n

Supreme Court justices ruled earlier Thursday that the president is not immune from subpoenas and criminal investigations, allowing Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. to seek eight years of Trump\u2019s tax returns, which have been a closely guarded secret.<\/p>\n

The court also blocked a similar effort by congressional investigators, arguing the request was too broad, before punting both cases to a lower court and keeping Trump\u2019s records under wraps for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a pure witch hunt. It\u2019s a hoax, just like the Mueller investigation was a hoax, which I won,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cThis is just another hoax.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is purely political. I win at the federal level and we win very decisively so they send it to New York and you know what\u2019s going on with New York \u2014 everyone\u2019s leaving and it\u2019s turned out to be a hell hole and they better do something about it because people are leaving New York,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The president also railed against the decision on Twitter<\/a>, calling the verdict \u201cunfair\u201d to his administration.<\/p>\n

However, Trump\u2019s personal attorney Jay Sekulow, who argued the case, welcomed the decision and said they would continue fighting the matter in the lower courts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased that in the decision issued today the Supreme Court has temporarily blocked both Congress and New York prosecutors from obtaining the president\u2019s financial records,\u201d he wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will now proceed to raise additional constitutional and legal issues in the lower courts,\u201d he added.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
