The Issue: Sheldon Silver\u2019s furlough from prison just eight months into his 78-month sentence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Post\u2019s editorial about former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver\u2019s release just proves the double standard that exists in New York state (\u201cGet Shelly Back to Prison,\u201d May 5).<\/p>\n

This criminal was convicted by his peers for taking advantage of his political position, thereby showing the residents of the state how corrupt the system is.<\/p>\n

He should be brought back to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence. Perhaps that would send a message to all of the other corrupt government officials that the gig is up. <\/p>\n

While many might be upset that the corrupt Silver has been furloughed from federal prison after serving only eight months of a 78-month sentence, it gives us all a unique opportunity to observe a rare scientific phenomenon \u2014 an isolated parasite being released to protect it from a virus.<\/p>\n

The explanation for Silver serving only eight months of his more-than-six-year sentence begs for idle speculation.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s highly unlikely that his early release is actually because of the pandemic, especially at this point.<\/p>\n

Hypothetically: Might someone have owed him a really big favor from before and agreed to \u201ctake his call\u201d? Were the eight months he served a \u201cwink, wink\u201d prearranged penance, with the remaining 70 months simply there to make the process app<\/a>ear fair and just?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m reminded of an old saying I heard many, many years ago: \u201cIf it stinks like a three-day-old dead fish, then it probably is one.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Federal Bureau of Prisons just proved that it\u2019s run by corrupt Democrats.<\/p>\n

This is an outrage. Silver was convicted and sentenced and was released after serving all of eight months. This is why no one trusts the federal government.<\/p>\n

Gov. Cuomo is hoping that all the current scandals he is involved in will simply fade away if he just hangs in there and refuses to resign.<\/p>\n

A group of useful idiots just had a rally on his behalf, so things are looking up, right? The last thing Cuomo wants now is more revelations about his conduct.<\/p>\n

Why was Silver released from prison? He is now being allowed to remain in his own residence.<\/p>\n

There are many other inmates who have health issues, and they are tended to by the prison hospital doctors for their medical conditions.<\/p>\n

This is a slap in the face to every law-abiding citizen in New York. Once again, a politician thinks that he is above the law, and shifty Shelly certainly is one of them.<\/p>\n

Rescind his out-of-jail order and return him to his nice, cozy cell where he belongs, immedia<\/a>tely. Do the crime, fully do the time. <\/p>\n
