When the Nets set out on an 11-day, five-game<\/a> swing, they likely didn\u2019t set hard and fast benchmarks of success and failure.<\/p>\n

But at 0-4 going into Saturday\u2019s last portion in Denver \u2014 their worst slump of the entire season, with just five games left until the playoffs start \u2014 their grade surely falls in the \u201cF\u201d category so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou never want to lose four games in a row,\u201d Joe Harris said after the Nets\u2019 113-109 loss to the Mavericks on Thursday night. \u201cYou\u2019re trying to have as positive an outlook on what\u2019s happ<\/a>ening as possible. That\u2019s the best way to do it. We can literally bitch and complain to each other about a whole bunch of different stuff, but there\u2019s no good that comes out of it. I think for us, hopefully, it will tighten up the group, bring us a little bit closer together.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you go through difficult times, that\u2019s when you create this bond you wouldn\u2019t otherwise maybe have. So for us to have this now, yeah, it\u2019s tough and it sucks; but at the same time, we still have five games to get ourselves right. To a man in the locker room, there\u2019s definitely a sense of urgency to go out and get ourselves right against Denver.\u201d<\/p>\n

The skid has essentially cost them any real shot at earning the No. 1 seed in the East. But now just a half-game ahead of third-seeded Milwaukee for third \u2014 and with the Bucks holding the tiebreaker \u2014 the Nets are saying No. 2 would be fine.<\/p>\n

But of course, getting healthy and back on track would be even better.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, it would be great. It\u2019d be great to have the two seed, to even climb up to one. I don\u2019t think that it\u2019s more of a priority than us growing,\u201d Steve Nash said. \u201cWe obviously are a team that hasn\u2019t had a lot of time together, hasn\u2019t had a lot of time with healthy bodies. We don\u2019t want to just think short-term here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s starting five of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Landry Shamet, Harris and Blake Griffin marked the Nets\u2019 team-record 35th different starting lineup of the season, second only to Houston.<\/p>\n
