Former SVP of iOS and Steve Jobs\u00a0<em class=\"il\">prot\u00e9g\u00e9<\/em>,\u00a0Scott Forstall, was responsible for the well-known skeuomorphic design in early <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le products, from the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ds ir\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2011\/10\/apples-newsstand-success\/\">Newsstand<\/a> to the sound of the shutter button in the camera. It can be seen as a tool for helping the paradigm shift between two different versions of the same thing. But it can also be an accidental consequence of cultural influences and creativity obstructions from the designer.<\/p>\n<p id=\"fc62\" class=\"jp jq fy ba jr js jt ju jv jw jx ih by\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">*But unintended skeuomorphism will restrain the new design to functions that are no longer needed, and can mitigate the advantages of the new <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> that made design evolve in the first place.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"c0ea\" class=\"jy jz fy ba ka kb kc hs kd ke kf hv kg kh ki kj kk kl km kn ko kp kq kr ks kt gu\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Skeuomorphism_in_Transport\"><\/span>Skeuomorphism in Transport<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p id=\"940d\" class=\"ho hp fy hq b hr ku hs ht hu kv hv hw hx kw hy hz ia kx ib ic id ky ie if ih dm gu\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">In the late XIX century, the idea of a\u00a0<strong class=\"hq cz\">horseless carriage<\/strong> was the best way to explain the transition from horse-powered carriages to combustion engine vehicles. People could not imagine a 4-wheeled vehicle being moved around by something else than a horse. These \u201chorseless carriages\u201d were the first cars designed, and were notably similar to existing horse-drawn carriages but with a motor attached under the floorboards.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4b70\" class=\"ho hp fy hq b hr im hs ht hu in hv hw hx io hy hz ia ip ib ic id iq ie if ih dm gu\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Uriah Smith was one of the many having a hard time accepting such a radical and implausible concept as a horseless carriage. He had to come up with an idea of a car with a wooden horse head and neck attached to the front. By making the car resemble a horse and a carriage, he was looking to trick (real) horses and avoid them being frightened by the new machines driving around. Are we being skeuomorphic in the current mobility scenario to avoid any \u201chorses\u201d to be frightened? What is today\u2019s <em class=\"il\">Horsey Horseless<\/em>?<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"00f3\" class=\"jy jz fy ba ka kb kc hs kd ke kf hv kg kh lf kj kk kl lg kn ko kp lh kr ks kt gu\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"EV_Chargers\"><\/span>EV Chargers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p id=\"1342\" class=\"ho hp fy hq b hr ku hs ht hu kv hv hw hx kw hy hz ia kx ib ic id ky ie if ih dm gu\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Fortunately, electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ds ir\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jato.com\/in-september-2020-for-the-first-time-in-european-history-registrations-for-electrified-vehicles-overtook-diesel\/\">more and more widespread<\/a>. They operate just like a petrol car, except they run on energy taken from a battery. When the battery dies, the charging process is analog to the old technology: you need to plug your EV in to some form of electric power station and wait for it to be charged and available to drive again. Right? Well, not quite. Just as if we were to design a mobile app for children who did not grow up with analogue devices, skeuomorphism is not necessary anymore.<\/p>\n<p id=\"e4d1\" class=\"ho hp fy hq b hr im hs ht hu in hv hw hx io hy hz ia ip ib ic id iq ie if ih dm gu\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">To begin with, electricity is ubiquitous \u2014 fuel is not. We don\u2019t always need to drive to what we know as \u2018gas stations\u2019, when we have electric sockets in our own houses. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ds ir\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wallbox.com\/\">Wallbox<\/a>, a Spanish EV charging company manufactures and distributes devices for\u00a0<strong>domestic charging<\/strong>. You park your EV at home, plug it in and <em class=\"il\">voil\u00e1<\/em>, it charges while you sleep. The charge-at-home concept is a couple of years old now and breaks the skeuomorphic design we discussed. But what if we didn\u2019t even want to plug in our vehicles?<\/p>\n<p id=\"e37d\" class=\"ho hp fy hq b hr im hs ht hu in hv hw hx io hy hz ia ip ib ic id iq ie if ih dm gu\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong>Induction charging<\/strong>\u00a0allows you to charge your vehicle\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ds ir\" href=\"https:\/\/www.carmagazine.co.uk\/electric\/what-is-electric-car-wireless-charging-wevc-and-how-does-it-work-\/\">anywhere you park<\/a>, or even\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ds ir\" href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionmanagermagazine.com\/call-examine-eroads-solve-electric-vehicle-chargin\/\">while riding on specific roads<\/a>\u00a0without any need for cables.\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ds ir\" href=\"https:\/\/www.qualcomm.com\/\">Qualcomm<\/a>\u00a0is one of the players leading the inductive charging industry. This is definitely innovative, but it looks expensive, unrealistic and circumscribed to limited areas for the time being.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"7fef\" class=\"jy jz fy ba ka kb kc hs kd ke kf hv kg kh lf kj kk kl lg kn ko kp lh kr ks kt gu\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Forget_everything_you_know_about_EV_charging\"><\/span>Forget everything you know about EV charging<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p id=\"2c86\" class=\"ho hp fy hq b hr ku hs ht hu kv hv hw hx kw hy hz ia kx ib ic id ky ie if ih dm gu\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Charging your vehicle is a hassle. Nobody wants to do it and we all wish for a vehicle that could drive indefinitely.
