{"id":244444,"date":"2021-05-07T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-07T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/republican-running-for-va-gov-under-fire-as-more-work-for-dems-emerge\/"},"modified":"2021-05-07T13:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-05-07T10:00:00","slug":"republican-running-for-va-gov-under-fire-as-more-work-for-dems-emerge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/republican-running-for-va-gov-under-fire-as-more-work-for-dems-emerge\/","title":{"rendered":"#Republican running for Va. gov under fire as more work for Dems emerge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Republican running for Va. gov under fire as more work for Dems emerge<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>One of the frontrunners for the Republican nomination for Virginia governor is facing last-minute attacks as documents have surfaced indicating he worked for Democrats on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n<p>Digital marketing pioneer Pete Snyder, a top-tier candidate going into a GOP primary convention on Saturday, earned more than $7,200 from the Democratic National Committee in 2000 for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>\u201d and \u201cmedia consulting\u201d work, records indicate.<\/p>\n<p>Snyder previously faced scrutiny because his company, New Media Strategies, took <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?recipient_name=new+media+strategies&amp;data_type=processed\">$140,000<\/a> from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in 2005 and 2006. <\/p>\n<p>Former Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.), who ran the National Republican Congressional Committee from 1999 to 2003, told The Post that he\u2019s outraged that Snyder was \u201cworking for the opposition\u201d and that he\u2019s concerned that he did so on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company was Pete. I mean, Pete was the owner of the company, This wasn\u2019t like a publicly held company or something like that. But this is kind of the height of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Snyder\u2019s defenders have argued his firm did relatively little work for the money from Democrats and that the company offered services such as monitoring discussion boards and tracking TV clips \u2014 tasks that seemed groundbreaking two decades ago but that are no longer impressive.<\/p>\n<p>Snyder founded New Media Strategies in 1999 before <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/meredith.mediaroom.com\/2011-12-15-New-Media-Strategies-Founder-CEO-Pete-Snyder-to-Step-Down-From-Executive-Duties-at-End-of-2011\">selling it in 2007 <\/a>to Meredith Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s work included corporate, entertainment and political campaigns. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\"Pete Synder\u2019s firm, New Media Strategies, worked with high profile Republican clients such as Missouri Sen. Amanda Chase, who scored an endorsement from former President Donald Trump\u2019s pardoned adviser <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/michael-flynn-endorses-virginia-governor-candidate-who-called-capitol-rioters-patriots-1582107\">Michael Flynn<\/a>, and businessman Glenn Youngkin, a former co-CEO of the Carlyle Group, who has the support of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/wset.com\/news\/local\/sen-ted-cruz-joins-glenn-youngkin-at-a-rally-in-lynchburg-days-before-convention\">Sen. Ted Cruz <\/a>(R-Texas).<\/p>\n<p>The funds from the DNC to Snyder\u2019s firm are buried in lengthy PDF files on the Federal Election Commission website, which don\u2019t specify what exactly Snyder did to earn the money. The firm received $3,630 on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/pdf\/001\/20036583001\/20036583001.pdf\">Oct. 27<\/a> and on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/pdf\/481\/21036841481\/21036841481.pdf\">Nov 28<\/a>, 2000.<\/p>\n<p>The older files are more difficult to search and went undiscovered for much of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Snyder\u2019s campaign spokesman Nathan Brand said the records should be seen in a broader context.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"682\" height=\"1024\" alt=\"Virginia state Sen. Unlike his competitors, Pete Snyder has never donated to a Democrat or left-wing cause,\u201d Brand said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, Pete has donated more than $2 million to conservative candidates and causes in the last 25 years, and he will continue to build the party as the next Republican Governor of Virginia.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Accusations of being too close to Democrats have hit other candidates in the race, including Youngkin, who donated $2,800 last year to Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a New York Democrat who unsuccessfully sought to unseat self-declared socialist Rep.
