“#Time Cut Will Be Back to the Future Meets Scream \u2013 \/Film<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Christopher Landon<\/strong> and\u00a0Michael Kennedy<\/strong>, the team that recently worked together on the fantastic body-swap slasher comedy\u00a0Freaky<\/em>, are reuniting for yet another high-concept horror project. It\u2019s called\u00a0Time Cut<\/em><\/strong>, and it\u2019s described as\u00a0Back to the Future<\/em> meets\u00a0Scream<\/em>. What more do you need to know, really?\u00a0Madison Bailey<\/strong> and Antonia Gentry<\/strong> are set to star in the film, with Landon producing and Kennedy co-writing the script<\/a> with\u00a0Sono Patel.\u00a0Into the Dark\u00a0<\/em>filmmaker\u00a0Hannah Macpherson<\/strong> will direct, with production gearing up in June.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite movies<\/a> from last year was\u00a0Freaky<\/em>, a funny, gory horror-comedy that blended slasher movie thrills with body-swap humor. It worked incredibly well, and that makes me all the more excited about\u00a0Time Cut<\/em>, a new film coming from the\u00a0Freaky<\/em> team. Christopher Landon, who co-wrote and directed\u00a0Freaky<\/em>, is set to produce\u00a0Time Cut<\/em>, while\u00a0Michael Kennedy, who co-wrote the\u00a0Freaky<\/em> screenplay, is handling the\u00a0Time Cut<\/em> script with Sono Patel (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em>).\u00a0Hannah Macpherson, who helmed the\u00a0Into the Dark<\/em> entry\u00a0Pure<\/em>, will direct.
\nWhile we don\u2019t have a full synopsis, THR<\/a> describes the film as \u201cBack to the Future<\/em>\u00a0meets\u00a0Scream<\/em>,\u201d which sounds like a great idea overall. By this description we can surmise that both time travel<\/a> and murder are going to be on display here, and we all love time travel and murder, don\u2019t we, folks? Also, maybe someone\u00a0 in the movie will invent rock and roll at a school dance.<\/p>\n

THR is also calling this a \u201cYA movie,\u201d which means it probably won\u2019t be as gory as\u00a0Freaky<\/em>, but that\u2019s okay. Landon has worked with a slasher movie crossed with time travel before, sort of, with the\u00a0Happy Death Day<\/em> movies. Now if only someone would go ahead and let him make\u00a0Happy Death Day 3<\/em>, gosh darn it. And while we\u2019re at it, let\u2019s get a\u00a0Freaky\u00a0<\/em>sequel. Why not? I\u2019d watch it, and you probably would too. Perhaps if\u00a0Time Cut<\/em> is super successful it will give Landon and Kennedy all the ammunition they need to return to that franchise (if they even want to).<\/p>\n

Netflix stars Madison Bailey (Outer Banks<\/em>) and\u00a0Antonia Gentry (Ginny & Georgia<\/em>) will star in the movie.\u00a0Matt Kaplan\u2019s ACE Entertainment, which produces the\u00a0To All the Boys<\/em> series, is also producing the movie. Production on\u00a0Time Cut<\/em> is expected to begin in Canada this June. There\u2019s no word yet where the film will end up \u2013 either in theaters or a streaming service \u2013 so stay tuned for updates.<\/p>\n
