For Leslie Bibb, playing Josh Duhamel\u2019s wife on Netflix superhero show \u201cJupiter\u2019s Legacy\u201d was a no-brainer \u2014 and not because of the capes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI produced a movie in 2018 [\u2018The Lost Husband\u2019] and I got him to come and be the male lead. My mother had passed away a week before we started filming. I was pretty cracked open, to say the least. So I really app<\/a>reciate Josh because he got me through that,\u201d Bibb, 46, told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was so good to me. We have such a rapport with one another and an easy chemistry. I feel safe with him. He really held me up during that movie. Then, four months later I get this [role], and I\u2019m playing his wife. There\u2019s an ease that we instinctively have with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now streaming on Netflix and based on a comic by Mark Millar<\/a> (\u201cKick-Ass\u201d), \u201cJupiter\u2019s Legacy\u201d centers on the world\u2019s first superheroes who got their powers during the Depression era and formed a Justice-League esque organization known as The Union \u2014 comprised of Sheldon Sampson (Duhamel) aka \u201cThe Utopian\u201d; his wife Grace Sampson (Bibb, \u201cLady Liberty\u201d); Sheldon\u2019s brother Walter (Ben Daniels, \u201cBrainwave\u201d); Fitz Small (Mike Wade, \u201cThe Flare\u201d); and George Hutchence (Matt Lanter, \u201cSkyfox\u201d).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The show jumps back and forth between the superheroes\u2019 Depression-era origins and the present day (they\u2019re aged-up in silver wigs), where their families are dysfunctional as their teen and young adult children struggle in their parents\u2019 shadows \u2014 especially Sheldon and Grace\u2019s rebellious daughter Chloe (Elena Kampouris) and troubled son, Brandon (Andrew Horton).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI liked the fact that you get to see the characters in the present day and you get to see what they were like when they were in their 20\u2019s. You really get to play both sides of the coin,\u201d said Bibb. \u201cI love the aspect of being in something that was a period piece, and then getting to do something that is a superhero show in the same hour of watching it.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t Bibb\u2019s first rodeo in the world of superheroes, since she\u2019s appeared in the \u201cIron Man\u201d movies<\/a> (as reporter Christine Everhart) \u2014 though Christine is a regular human sans superpowers. <\/p>\n

\u201cI loved showing a woman of a certain age being this strong and powerful \u2014 usually you look at superheroes and they\u2019re young,\u201d she said. \u201cIt is a superhero show, but it also feels like a woman trying to keep her marriage going and keep her relationship with her kids, and try to find her voice and her curiosity that \u2014 somewhere along the way, as life has happened to her \u2014 she\u2019s lost. She\u2019s finding that voice again, so that journey was interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bibb is currently in Australia, filming her next role in Melissa McCarthy\u2019s upcoming series \u201cGod\u2019s Favorite Idiot.\u201d<\/a> Oscar winner Sam Rockwel<\/a>l, with whom Bibb has been in a relationship since 2007, is visiting her \u2014 and they\u2019ve taken advantage of the fact that the country is more open, post-pandemic, than America, she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe got here, and one of the first things we did was we went and saw a movie. It was so exciting to sit in a brick and mortar theater and sit in front of a screen! We went and saw \u2018Supernova,\u2019 the Stanley Tucci [and] Colin Firth movie. I feel really grateful to be in a relationship with somebody who\u2019s such a great actor. He\u2019s so fun and so kind and so generous and really supportive of me. We\u2019re just sort of geeks when it comes to acting \u2014 we\u2019re constantly watching movies.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
