Daniel Dae Kim<\/strong> and his 3AD production company are joining forces with Amazon for\u00a0Tether<\/em><\/strong>, a ghost story from writers\u00a0Kevin Hamedani<\/strong> and Travis Betz<\/strong>. The series<\/a> follows the ghost of a woman trying to save her kidnapp<\/a>ed son and husband, and that\u2019s certainly a twist on your average ghost story. Kim will executive produce the show, which is currently in development.<\/p>\n

THR says that Amazon and Daniel Dae Kim\u2019s production company 3AD are developing\u00a0Tether<\/em>, a supernatural series from writers\u00a0Kevin Hamedani and Travis Betz.\u00a0Hamedani and Betz will tackle the script and serve as showrunners and executive producers.\u00a0Kim will also executive produce alongside 3AD head of development John Cheng, and Tara Bohn. Kim\u2019s 3AD has a first-look deal with Amazon.<\/p>\n

Tether<\/em> follows \u201cMadelyn Woods, a woman driven to find her kidnapped husband and son and exact revenge on those who hurt them\u2026and murdered her. Now a ghost, and tethered to the house she died in, Madelyn must find a way to escape her supernatural prison and save the ones she loves.\u201d I\u2019m not exactly sure how this will translate to a series \u2013 is Madelyn\u2019s ghost going to spend most of the show trapped, er,\u00a0tethered<\/em> to the house? \u2013 but that\u2019s not my problem to worry about.<\/p>\n

\u201cKevin and Travis have an incredible topical voice that uses narrative storytelling and genre to disrupt and illuminate. They have a purposeful strength in subverting expectations, showcasing unrepresented characters and worlds,\u201d said Tara Bohn. \u201cAs in Tether<\/em>, they write\u00a0about average people who consider themselves good, inclusive, and even progressive, who still fall prey to their own fears and prejudices.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hamedani and Betz gained prominence when their script\u00a0The Saviors<\/em> was selected for the 2018 Black List, the annual list that highlights the best unproduced screenplays of the year. That script is now being developed by Ben Stiller\u2019s Red Hour Films with Hamedani set to direct. They\u2019re also adapting the book\u00a0Darius The Great Is Not Okay<\/em> for Universal.<\/p>\n
