The person wrote in a since-deleted tweet:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEugene Levy was such a gift. The 74-year-old father\u2019s son <strong>Dan Levy<\/strong> reacted to the post on Friday, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> to me.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 dan levy (@danjlevy) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/danjlevy\/status\/1390832452751400960?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, it was all just a misunderstanding as the social media user subsequently apologized for the gaffe:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m sooo sorry! I thought he had passed last year. Everything has been such a blur the last year. I\u2019m h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y to know he\u2019s fine. I\u2019m so embarrassed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The woman continued in another note:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI stupidly thought Eugene Levy had passed away last year. I am watching Schitt\u2019s Creek for the first time, &amp; was super sad because Eugene is such a gift. I deleted the original tweet because I was mortified &amp; also didn\u2019t want anyone to think it was true now that I know he\u2019s ok.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>You know, a global pandemic really can discombobulate people \u2014 even into thinking a beloved TV dad has passed. The person later revealed they had actually confused Eugene with <strong>Fred Willard<\/strong>, who died in May 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Following the fiasco, many fans of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> proceeded to joke about the error on social media. One supporter said to the former host:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHe had better have been sitting right next to you when you tweeted that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Another referenced an episode of the sitcom:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s like that time the press killed moira.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mistakes happen, but we suggest googling first before you tweet!
