There was quite a bit of good news<\/a> for Hearties on Sunday, May 9: Not only did the When Calls the Heart<\/em><\/a> Season 8 finale reveal Elizabeth Thornton\u2019s (Erin Krakow<\/a>) choice in the love triangle, but Hallmark Channel also gave an update about the series<\/a>\u2019 future.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth chose businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally<\/a>) over Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry<\/a>) in \u201cThe Kiss.\u201d What happ<\/a>ens next, Krakow told TV Insider, \u201cwill truly be something different for Elizabeth.\u201d She\u2019s looking forward to seeing \u201cwhat that courtship actually looks like.\u201d And fans will get to see that since it was officially announced after the finale that When Calls the Heart<\/em> will be returning for a ninth season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just as sad as you are that this season of When Calls the Heart<\/em> is over, but we\u2019ll be returning next year for another all-new season,\u201d Krakow tells fans in the announcement (below). \u201cSo what\u2019s next for Elizabeth and the rest of Hope Valley? We\u2019ve got so many great new stories to share and I can\u2019t wait for you to find out.\u201d<\/p>\n

But will fans be tuning in? Some aren\u2019t too pleased with Elizabeth\u2019s choice, connecting it back to how it started for her (her late husband, Jack, was a Mountie). And one of the stars even acknowledges those who aren\u2019t sure they\u2019ll continue watching in his thanks to the fans. Others may have been Team Nathan but aren\u2019t totally against Elizabeth\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n
