Instagram is adding a new field<\/a> in your profile to display your pronouns if you wish.\u00a0Until now, you could only ever key them somewhere into your bio, or include them in your display name.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company said that this feature is rolling\u00a0out for users in a few countries without specifying which ones. If it\u2019s available in your region, you\u2019ll be able to add pronounce by heading to Edit Profile > Pronouns<\/em>. You can choose up to four pronouns to write in the field.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve saved the info, it\u2019ll app<\/a>ear next to your display name.<\/p>\n

Instagram doesn\u2019t allow you to write anything in the new feature and it limits entries to gender-inclusive pronouns. We\u2019ve asked Instagram to provide an exhaustive list of accepted pronouns, and we\u2019ll update the story if we hear back.<\/p>\n

You can also choose to show your pronouns to only your followers if you want to keep them a bit more private. Instagram said that this setting will be turned on for users under 18 by default.<\/p>\n

OkCupid was one of the first dating apps to include a pronoun field in 2018<\/a>. Facebook<\/a> has allowed displaying pronouns on your profile since 2014<\/a>, but options are limited to a few choices.<\/p>\n
