The\u00a0Knives Out 2<\/em><\/strong> cast is growing seemingly daily, and each new bit of casting is more exciting than the next. So far,\u00a0Edward Norton<\/strong> and Dave Bautista<\/strong> have joined the Rian Johnson<\/strong>-directed sequel that brings back Daniel Craig<\/strong>\u2018s master sleuth\u00a0Benoit Blanc. Now,\u00a0Janelle Mona<\/strong>e has come on board as well. Like the previous two casting announcements, we don\u2019t know who Monae is playing, but it\u2019s safe to assume the sequel will once again assemble a big cast of characters and make them all suspects in a murder.<\/p>\n

THR<\/a> has the latest\u00a0Knives Out 2<\/em> casting scoop, reporting that\u00a0Janelle Monae is joining the ever-growing cast. At this point, we\u2019ve had a new casting announcement every day, and I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the next few days continue that trend. Very little is known about this sequel, but like the first film, it will once again involve a large ensemble cast built around Daniel Craig\u2019s Southern private detective. None of the other ensemble players from the first film beyond Craig are expected to return.
\nLast year, Johnson said<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m actually writing another Knives Out<\/em>. It\u2019s been such a mindfuck, because I sat on the idea for the first one for 10 years. And with this one, I\u2019m starting with a blank page. It\u2019s not really a Knives Out<\/em> sequel. I need to come up with a title for it so I can stop calling it The Knives Out Sequel because it\u2019s just Daniel Craig as the same detective with a totally new cast.\u201d<\/p>\n

Monae is a singer and actor who has turned in memorable performances in\u00a0Moonlight<\/em> and\u00a0Hidden Figures<\/em>, among other things. She was even good in the otherwise lackluster\u00a0Antebellum<\/em>, and the second season of\u00a0Homecoming<\/em>. She will no doubt make a great addition to this cast, and I can\u2019t wait to see who she plays \u2013 and who else ends up joining her.<\/p>\n

Filming on\u00a0Knives Out 2<\/em> is expected to begin in Greece this summer. The Greece shooting location suggests that Benoit Blanc will be taking his particular set of skills international, which certainly fits with the Agatha Christie\/Hercule Poirot-theme<\/a>d nature of the character.\u00a0Knives Out 2<\/em> is headed to Netflix, with the streaming service closing a massive deal for both\u00a0Knives Out 2<\/em> and\u00a0Knives Out 3<\/em>.\u00a0<\/em>The exact number was somewhere around\u00a0$469 million, with the stipulation that \u201cCraig must star in the sequels and that each must have at least the budget of the 2019 movie, which was in the $40 million range.\u201d<\/p>\n
