Packing his administration with Big Labor operatives matters more to President Joe Biden than his own much-ballyhooed ethics rules, and he\u2019s not even embarrassed about it.<\/p>\n

With great fanfare his first day in office, Biden signed an executive order<\/a> mandating that all his app<\/a>ointees \u201cin every executive agency\u201d sign an \u201cethics pledge\u201d that \u201ccontractually committed\u201d them to refraining from participating \u201cin any particular matter on which\u201d they lobbied, along with \u201cthe specific issue area in which that particular matter falls,\u201d for two years. They also couldn\u2019t \u201cseek or accept employment with any executive agency with respect to which\u201d they lobbied for two years.<\/p>\n

The media<\/a> touted this \u201crevolving-door ban\u201d as far tougher than the Obama and Trump rules. Oops: It turns out Team Biden is handing out truckloads of ethics waivers to labor-union veterans. <\/p>\n

The latest winner is Celeste Drake, Biden\u2019s pick to head his new Made in America Office. Ethics restrictions that would have stopped her from communicating with previous employers the AFL-CIO and the Directors Guild of America won\u2019t apply, Axios reports. \u201cThe successful accomplishment\u201d of her \u201cmission\u201d requires \u201cextensive, open and collaborative communications\u201d between her office and Big Labor, a White House lawyer claimed in a disclosure memo.<\/p>\n

In March, Team Biden waived rules for the Office of Personnel Management\u2019s new director of intergovernmental affairs, Alethea Predeoux. Her work as the head lobbyist for the American Federation of Government Employees should have precluded her from any<\/em> job at OPM.<\/p>\n

Biden has given union hacks senior posts in the departments of Labor, Homeland Security and Education, as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. (Not to mention letting the American Federation of Teachers dictate language to the Centers for Disease Control for its guidelines on school reopenings.)<\/p>\n

And of course his larger agenda is one long union giveaway, from overturning state right-to-work laws to dumping trillions subsidizing and creating new unionized jobs.<\/p>\n

Responding to the Axios report, a White House flack declared, \u201cPresident Biden has stood strong for unions throughout his career, and he\u2019s proud to have leading labor voices in the White House and throughout his administration helping to enact that agenda.\u201d <\/p>\n

In other words, ethics rules don\u2019t apply to his besties.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
