“Law & Order: Hate Crimes: Planned NBC Spin-off Series<\/a> Moving to Peacock<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Law & Order<\/em> universe is expanding. TVLine reports Dick Wolf\u2019s new spin-off series,\u00a0Law & Order: Hate Crimes<\/em>, is moving to the upcoming streaming service\u00a0Peacock.<\/p>\n

The legal drama is \u201cbased on New York\u2019s actual Hate Crimes Task Force, the second oldest bias-based task force in the U.S. The\u00a0unit, which pledges to uphold a zero tolerance policy against discrimination of any kind, works under the NYPD\u2019s real Special Victims Unit and often borrows SVU\u2019s detectives to assist in their investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n

NBC gave Law & Order: Hate Crimes<\/em> a 13-episode order back in 2018, but plans have been delayed for years. Now, it looks like the spin-off series will be coming to NBCUniversal\u2019s new streaming service Peacock. The streaming platform is slated to launch on July 15th.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From\u00a0Law & Order: SVU\u00a0<\/em>showrunner Warren Leight:<\/p>\n

I think it was perceived to be a better fit with Peacock. The vocabulary people use when they commit hate crimes is not acceptable on network television, and that\u2019s an interesting consideration.<\/p>\n

I think [Hate Crimes<\/em>] is a show that needs to be made. Where it dovetails with SVU<\/em>, it\u2019s about the toll a hate crime takes on a victim, a victim\u2019s family, and a community. It\u2019s an arena I think needs to be written about. I\u2019d like to see this show go [forward].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
