Though not specifically mentioning Musk\u2019s claims that the crypto asset comes \u201cat a great cost to the environment,\u201d he said BTC wasn\u2019t \u201ca normal, stable asset\u201d just yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it&#8217;s durable,\u201d said Rieder, referring to Bitcoin. \u201cI think it will be part of the investment arena for years to come, but some of these challenges and the volatility around it \u2014 regulatory dynamics, fiat currency concerns relative to crypto [&#8230;] \u2014 are real. They will be overcome over time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Bitcoin is an interesting asset. His comments came following the multitrillion-dollar asset manager mentioning Bitcoin in two prospectus filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The filings suggest the possibility of BlackRock using Bitcoin derivatives and other assets as part of its investment scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Following Musk&#8217;s remarks on the environment impact of Bitcoin, the price of the crypto asset fell to under $50,000 for the first time in weeks.
