\nEveryone has had a friend or loved one going off the deep end. And sometimes nothing you say or do makes any difference \u2014 all you can do is watch as they race to rock bottom. And all too often they don\u2019t survive the journey.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what\u00a0Chris Farley<\/strong>\u2018s friends had to go through as he went to rehab over and over, ultimately unable to kick his alcohol and drug addiction.<\/p>\n

One of his best friends from\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em> was\u00a0Chris Rock<\/strong> \u2014 who got a blast from the past in an interview with Esquire<\/em> this week as he promoted his upcoming movie\u00a0Spiral: From The Book Of Saw<\/em>. The iconic comedia<\/a>n was shown a photo of himself,\u00a0Adam Sandler<\/strong>,\u00a0David Spade<\/strong>, and Farley \u2014 the BFFs who got started on the show\u00a0together. He reminisced about the foursome dubbed the \u201cBad Boys of SNL<\/em>\u201c:<\/p>\n

\u201cMe, Sandler, Spade, and Farley \u2014 we shared an office at Saturday Night Live. We called it a dorm. We\u2019re friends to this day. I love those guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He immediately centered in on Farley, saying mournfully:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis looks like one of the last times I saw Chris alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But it wasn\u2019t the final time. Chris revealed:<\/p>\n

\u201cI would see him one more time when I did a gig in Chicago. We tried to hang out afterwards, but\u2026 I don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve ever really hung out with an addict. Towards the end, anything that isn\u2019t the drug is a chore.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s awful.<\/p>\n

That last time Rock went to visit his buddy before his death, something told him he\u2019d never see the\u00a0Tommy Boy<\/em> star again. He recalled:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I remember I was at his apartment. He was showing me his apartment. I leave, I see him out the window, and I was like, \u2018That\u2019s probably the last time I\u2019m going to see him.\u2019 I knew. I knew.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Even knowing wasn\u2019t enough. Everyone\u00a0tried<\/em> to get him help. Farley\u2019s managers would push him into rehab \u2014 he reportedly sought treatment for his addictions and his weight 17 separate times \u2014 but it never took. Addiction is a powerful monster fueled by a number of demons.<\/p>\n

In December 1997, the Tommy Boy<\/em> star was found dead in his apartment. The coroner would later determine he had overdosed on a speedball \u2014 a mix of cocaine and morphine. He was just 33 years old.<\/p>\n
