\n Amazon is banning employees from having the wildly popular TikTok app<\/a> on their phones, citing \u201csecurity risks\u201d associated with the Chinese-owned company in a Friday memo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have TikTok on your device, you must remove it by 10-Jul to retain mobile access to Amazon email,\u201d the Seattle-based e-tailing giant said in an IT email. \u201cAt this time, using TikTok from your Amazon laptop browser is allowed.\u201d<\/p>\n

A representative for Amazon did not respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

TikTok has been under in recent days as accusations that the data it collects could be shared with the Chinese government have grown.<\/p>\n

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said this week that the US is \u201ccertainly looking\u201d at banning TikTok and other Chinese social media<\/a> apps due to security concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to get out in front of (President Trump), but it\u2019s something we\u2019re looking at,\u201d Pompeo said in an interview with Fox News<\/a> on Monday. \u201cWe are taking this very seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n

US lawmakers have voiced national security concerns over the short-form video app\u2019s handling of user data, saying they were worried about Chinese laws requiring domestic companies \u201cto support and cooperate with intelligence work controlled by the Chinese Communist Party,\u201d Reuters reported.<\/p>\n
