It was a purrr-fect landing. <\/p>\n

A black cat escaped injury after leaping from the fifth floor window of a burning apartment in Chicago on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The jarring jump to safety was captured on video<\/a> by a Chicago Fire Department worker filming the exterior of a blaze as smoke-eaters battled the flames inside.<\/p>\n

With black smoke billowing out the windows, the fearless feline can be seen app<\/a>roaching the opening before taking the leap.<\/p>\n

As onlookers gasp, the cat clears a wall and lands on all fours on the grass before bouncing up running away, the video shows.<\/p>\n

Fire department spokesman Larry Langford said the cat was not injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt went under my car and hid until she felt better after a couple of minutes and came out and tried to scale the wall to get back in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
